Yup, 2 SAE mini baja cars. I'm the chief engineer and also somehow the only person with a vehicle that can tow~5000 lbs.
The baja cars are rwd, 10 hp briggs, CVT or manual transmission usually, ~12 inches of suspension travel, and it's all fully adjustable. We design and build a new car every year, and this pic was taken on the way back from a competition in Louisville, KY. After we're done running them in the Baja series they usually end up with bigger engines running TREC races with RZRs or something similar. We built a ~30 hp briggs for one, and another team has one powered by a 65 hp v-twin.
That sounds like a lot of fun.Comment

i really want to put a set of 20's on my t-type, maybe 22's. then when i go cruising, the cops will be looking at the "fast" cars, not my blinged out rocket...Originally posted by BillBraskyThat's like Vlad challenging Chip Foose to a car painting contest.2007 CVPI, stock and slowOriginally posted by acolella76i'm pretty sure 'Phillis' is short for syphilis

It wasn't stock, then. The 350 in 1991 only made 210hp, the GN made 275 stock, and much more with a tune only.
The fastest 3rd gen f-body was the TTA, and it had a similar motor to the GN, but with better flowing heads.
Both the TTA and GN were under-rated at the factory since GM didn't want to admit they had a more powerful engine in another platform than the flagship Corvette - specially being it was a 6cyl. Most guys that dynoed their 3.8 turbo engines would see 270-ish at the wheels.
Only reason I know this stuff is because I still own my 1990 Firebird - the last year third gen looked good.
Nose to nose in the 1/4 mile, the GN stock-for-stock would be tenth of seconds slower than the F-bodies, and that was because the f-body can launch much better with the torque arm and panhard rear suspension, rolling for a race, the GN smokes the TA.Comment

No such thing as a 383 stock Formula, and you have it backwards. I have been into f-bodies since I first rode in an IROC in 1988 and have been wrenching on them since I was in high school (when your TA was brand new). The TTA was better in the corners and in a straight line than the GN, but that's only from a standing start, the GN was a mid-13 second car, the l98 (350 small block, largest motor offered in a 3rd gen) cars did about 13.3's. The GN would walk a TA from a rolling start all day. Throw a tune on it and ls1-powered 3rd gens will have trouble.
The TTA was the only car until the c6 that required no performance modifications to be the Indy pace car and was the fastest car to that date making over 200mph on the straight at Indianapolis.

Oh and while we are on the subject of GN's, a local here who I repaired their home from water damage when contracting for a restoration company has an 87 with 15,000 miles on it. :D Thing still smels brand new inside - mmmm GM polyester and glue FTW.Comment

SLP is a company that modifies cars to be street legal, they are not stock and didn't come from the factory like that. If you did have a true limited run of SLP's Firehawk, it still didn't come with the 383, and you just confirmed that with your link, and the car would have been worth some good coin.YOU my friend need to read this

I didn't own the IROC, but it's what brought me into the f-bodies. At the time, I kinda knew about the TPI, but when I first saw the hood open, was trying to figure out where the carb/TBI was lol.
Yes, the SLP cars would out run a stock GN (as would the l98 350 TPI int he 1/4), but said it before and will say it again, a tuned 3.8 would run 10's. I will never forget my dad's friend who had an 87 (this was about 1989, just before moving to FL) and he had a GN. When it was time for the yearly emissions he would change the tune to pass, but when his tune was back on it, the car would run deep 10's with slicks - only "mod" was injectors.Comment
