I eat a chicken breast, small baked potato, half cup of rice, generous side of green beans, and a tortilla damn near every night.
That there is another example of how less food =\= losing weight.
By definition thats just higher volume/less calories vs low volume/high calorie.
If you want to do it correctly, you could use math terms and say less calories = losing more weight and refer to the food correctly as units of energy. The problem is people arent educated on caloric content, eating "healthy" just isnt enough as you can still get fat eating whole foods.
Specifically, "i ate 340 calories of a potato, 130 calories of chicken, 220 calories of a tortilla" instead of arbitrary names that hold no mathematical or numerical value to a person wondering why they cant lose weight.
We get it, you eat "clean", but in the real world, the real problem is addressing caloric content and helping people understand this, once they do they will see that the extra large bowl of cereal that never fills them up costs them a good 900 calories of their 2100 intake, and while they will lose weight if they are in a deficit, its about making better decisions, in this case, satiety. The food you eat is irrelevant until you start doing the math behind it. You seem to be hung up on certain words...
This is wrong. Carbs are not the reason for being overweight. Carbs are essential for energy. Even if you don't eat a lot of them most days, you need to have at least 1-2 days per week where you re-feed your carb intake. Unless you're shooting for or in ketosis, where even then, you still need to re-feed your carbs every so often. About 2-4 days in a row, I'll only eat around 50-100g, but then those others, I'll take in around 200-300g. It's nothing more than WHAT carbs you eat. There are good and bad.
If all you're eating is crackers, regular pasta and white bread (also known as REFINED GARBAGE), then yeah, those carbs are going to HELP in making you gain weight. Should be eating things like brown rice, fruits/veggies & whole grain breads/pasta. Same goes for fats, fat is not the devil. The USDA fucked everyone's head up in the 50's by telling everyone that fat is what made you fat, and to eat carbs, carbs, carbs. As many as you can get. You need plenty of good fats in your diet to keep your metabolism burning strong and your body to produce lean muscle mass.
7 days a week is also ridiculous in the gym, you need at least one rest day per week, along with plenty of sleep. Muscle growth occurs when you aren't training. And how often are you doing TWO HOURS of cardio? Are you kidding me? If it hasn't already, your body will get so accustomed to cardio that it will completely cease to have any effect on your body or metabolism. How many grams of protein and fats are you taking in each day?
I've gone months with eating less than 50g of carbs (6'3" 225lbs) and I'm fine and it's sugar carbs from a pre-workout supp. so they burn fast. Can do high energy plyometric for an hour 3 days a week then run for an hour right after or do HIIT training. Same with another guy at my gym, the human body adapts to crazy stuff. But not saying true with everyone and not just yet. scientists are checking it out, that's why I said you might hear this in the future, it's under further investigation.

This. Counting calories and other content/macros is ESSENTIAL. And you have to be anal to the point of being a pain in the ass about it. And so many people fuck it up because they don't add hidden things like sauces, garnishes, toppings, and more than anything, drinks. I drink almost NOTHING but water, the occasional Rockstar Recovery (Google it, hardly any sugar or calories), and heavy whipping cream in my protein shakes. People will inadvertently leave anywhere from 200-1000 calories unaccounted for just from shit like that.
I've been training for 14years, I've done it all and this works for me. Basketball players do cardio for I don't know how long every game and practice everyday, same with other athletes so I think it's ok. When training for football it was way worse then what i'm doing now and was in the heat.

I'm 6' 1" and 209 lbs., down from about 245 this time last year. Last month I was just a hair over 16% body fat, I think I'm probably about 14%. Going to get pinched later today.
Still have what's left of a gut and handles, but it's on it's way out.
6'3 225 is perfect for me. I'm not a body builder. I like being functional. I do my dumbbell presses with 115lbs in each hand (actual reps not 1rep BS) working to 120's.

That's what I'm saying, but I have a gut, a fatty chest etc. I don't feel "skinny" not even toned. I'll be going home for summer and I plan to make it my "bulking" season.
I usually dont even pay attention to my weight because, to me, it's just a number. I want to like the way I look and feel good about myself.
I guess I need to go to mens warehouse. lol
This is the most recent picture of me. A week ago from a banquet. Farthest right guy. As you can see I'm not "skinny" but still big/hefty. Baggy clothes doesn't help but you get the picture.
Haha, yeah those pants are two years old and too big. And the shirt, well I got it the beginning of this school year and I slimmed down a lot. It's so baggy.
Barely eat any carbs and i'm starting to hear that carbs are the reason for overweight and high cholestorol, not fat.
Barely any at all, or just compared to protein and fats? I kind of doubt you eat barely any carbs at all in general, as that would limit intake of fruits and veg. Yes, leafy greens broccoli and brussel sprouts can be considered 'free' cals, but they're still carbs. Not arguing, just want to know what you're doing/not doing for carbs
If there's one thing I discovered when I started eating right and losing a ton of weight, it's that I was not only a pretty damn good cook, but cooking a whole week's worth of stuff at once on my day off was the greatest thing ever, because I don't have to worry about what I'm going to eat every day.
I don't understand the people who say they 'can't cook'. I couldn't bake something to save my life, but I can cook all kinds of pretty basic things. I make a mean stir fry, rice dishes, grilled vegetables and chicken/steak, turkey/lean ground beef burgers/eggs (which can also be added to any of the above for extra protein and fats) are dead nuts simple and delicious. If you can't master these, give up on adult life now.
Yep, I just on Monday grilled 3 lbs. of organic chicken breast and made 6 cups of brown rice in the slow cooker. BAM. Lunch for the whole week.
Do this every Sunday/Monday night. Sometimes more or less elaborate but there's always the basic meat, rice and vegetable elements. I season with steak spices and lemon in lieu of bottled sauces that I would have used before trying to get in shape. Oh and always in a pan with olive oil :)
