    Owned both a E30 325i and an E36 M3 for about a year simultaneously.

Sold the E30, kept the M3, have not missed the E30 even from before it started acting up.

Sure, the M3 has been expensive to run, but it has simply been way more fun to own and drive than the E30 ever was. Sad to say, but true. More reliable and durable too.

My m3 has been the best handling and most fun car I've ever owned by far.

Are you kidding or do you think the 300lb girl you brought home last weekend feels the same as a Victoria's secret model with the lights off?

I have spent some track time in an e36 m3/4 including a fair amount of hooning. It's a handsome car and can look very good especially with the right mods. The difference with the e36 even with the additional weight transfer and roll is was the absolute easiest car to drive past the limit. It is difficult to describe but it felt like the car had an axis that the car just rotated around that never changed no matter how far you hung the tail out. It was just a very easy and forgiving car to drive fast and had plenty of torque and longer gears. The car and steering were much more vague rubbery and sloppy Vs an e30 and there is no denying the extra weight.

The e30 is much more fun and a much sharper more enjoyable drivers car.
For someone who is not a DIY mod it kind of person (unlike many on r3v) there is no better car for the money than a e36 m3. That said values have dipped so low on m3's it's pointless to buy a lesser e36 as you are polishing a turd. A sub $5k e36 will be a deferred maintence pain in the rear.

E36 m3's are more nimble than e46 m3's and many track and racers from certain classes swap in an s54 to the e36 chassis as being the most competitive combo. I see many owners of regular e46's sell them in favor of an e36 m3, I would agree from a drivers perspective and trackday enthusiast for sub $12k e46

This. I hate the fact that I cut one up, I would have loved to put it back together and kept it if it wasn't as far gone as it was. So it became a donor.

I would definitely drive the car in your sig, it's one of those e36 exceptions that you never knew existed.

My DD is an e36 and I would have to say that it's reliable. Im not the best maintenance guy but even at that, shes doing great. Owned her for about 7 years. Replaced 1 radiator (blew because I didn't know it needs bleeding after coolant; ex toyota driver), 1 expansion tank (heat cracked) and tranny under a week of owning (p.o. had no fluid in it)...everything else is minor like window clips..blah blah

I've seen some nice ones. Personally I'd own one with a small block V8 in it and two door only.

Read the mods list. Reiger infinity. They make an e30 version as well.

                      Good looking e36!

I think it was a hit or miss thing with non Ms. Same as with e30s. Had to check the option box at time of ordering.

I'm probably wrong though. I usually check every e36 that comes in the shop, and IIRC some bone stock 325/8s have had LSD rear, others not.

E30 is still more fun to drive. Slower maybe, but more engaging
Lawl, I'm casually trying to sell it now. If someone offers what I want, It'll be gone. I'm in love with the car now though, with those 255/17s on the rear.

M3 and 325is with the winter package had LSD. No other E36 did.
