This happens about every 5-6 years or so, since the 80's. Apple comes out with some kickass new computer (or white gizmo that plays mp3's), and everyone loses their minds, and runs out to buy it. In a few years, usually less, the hype dies down, and once again everyone realizes they paid 10 times a reasonable amount for a computer (or an mp3 player), when the same power (or capabilites) are available from 10 other well known companies for a 1/4 of the price.

They are awesome machines, the destops are expensive, but the laptops are very reasonably priced (considering the quality)

I won't lie, Apple's laptops are very nice, and like you said, much more reasonably priced than their desktops.

On the surface, it appears that I'm some dirty Mac-hater. I'm really not, I think that Macs are great for what they can do, Macs and PC's arebetter suited to do some things than others. But I'm not going to be one of these people that throws their PC out the window and makes burning rubber tracks to the nearest Apple dealer to shell out ridiculous amounts of money for one every time they come out with some amazing new product that will supposedly blow everything else out of the CGI animated (done on a Mac, though it may be) water.

actually the way i see it, microsoft is playing catchup (http://www.maclive.net/sid/134)

and now the other distributors will be playing catchup because the Yonah (intel core duo) is the best mobile processor on the consumer market.

most of you haters have never played the game, so spare us the bullshit.
here's an analogy for you. apple computers are to bmw as windows pc's are to fiat.
macs are faster, more reliable, and therefore cost more. fiats just break down and always need work (in this case spyware and virus scanning)

i know that if apple computers got more mainstream then they would be attacked by viruses and spyware, but right now there aren't (spare one virus that is disguised as a Microsoft Office install file.)
