I made the same statement on a FB thread but that's only speculation. In the beginning of the video you can see that biker turning his head in the direction of the Rover as if he was yelling to him before going in front and slowing down/brake checking whatever you want to call it. This makes me believe there was more to it.

How the eff do you guys figure the bikers were at fault? Do we know the full story?
Looked like the Range Rover hit the initial biker from behind. Doesn't matter if the biker broke. The guy in front has the right of way... But you have to wonder what started that.
Then the driver probably panicked and stupidly decided to plow through their crew. Bad move.
The bikers did the right thing by tracking the guy down because that was a hit and run but they should have NEVER beat his window in and caused anymore danger on the road (hopefully that's as far as it went). Both parties should have called the police.
Anyway, I hate NYC for stupid shit like this. Bunch of hurt boys playing up to ego. Idiots.

How much you want to bet the Range Rover cut that dude off and nearly hit him? -- and that's what started the whole thing. Road rage based off of stupid shit with a terrible chain reaction of events. I couldn't see any initial attack since its out of range of the camera but if they slashed his tires after impacting the first bike...would he be able to drive 60 odd blocks at high speed after the fact? Could it be he just got nervous and overreacted? I didn't see any aggression from bikers until he decided to ram them. As for the first biker, he did seem to pull in front of the RR and slowed down and broke at the end although I can't see any brake lights. Ramming the bikers for the second time and running off...just made matters worse. I'm not surprised at how it ended at all.

So I now know what they did. Bikers lose. Morons. They should have pinned him in his car and let the police arrest the guy for the hit and run.

But again, none of us were there so we really can't have a firm opinion on the whole thing. It's amazing to read the facebook replies. All the redneck racists come out. And I love how people post shit like: 'it would have been different if I was driving...'. Or: 'I would have shot those guys...'. Yeah yeah. People suck. You only need the diff lock for Harleys, sport bike don't need it on. They also spray hot steam on them as you run them over but that option was discontinued in 2002.

This, wow. I don't understand. How the fuck do people get behind the wheel of a vehicle (bikes included) and not comprehend the consequences of their actions. You can kill and be killed in these things. Brake checking an SUV when you're on a bike, no matter what happened prior is fucking stupid. However, whenever I see guys doing really stupid shit, I think, "Good, we do need more organ donors."
