Sounds like someone is in for a 1UZ swap.

Yeah I have some decisions to make. Ether spend the money from my e30 sale on the truck and so a swap, or just fix the 22re (brand new head with internals is $300-1000) and buy an e34 wagon. Not sure if I really need two cars right now but the GF could use a dd and I'd really like a e34.

E34T is just as good, if not better, than a truck with a cap.....IMO.

.....but that Toyota is a cool ass truck.

I'd really like to have both. I can throw really dirty big stuff in the truck and take it up fire roads for fishing. But it sucks in the city an traffic an I can't fit more than two people in it. That's where the wagon would come into play.

Its a 22re. I never really payed attention to exact mileage. I think with my heavy foot it was a bit better then my 325e.

I killed my 22re. It ran out of oil some how very quickly with out any visible leaks. I had done a very recent oil change + filter and the dip stick is now dry. Most likely have destroyed bearings.
Im taking it into A1 Imports on Monday to have JP look at it and give me options and prices. I cant do this scale of work my self even though I am capable of it because I dont have any work space. That sucks.

but why would you remove a used engine and replace it with another used engine? I hope you at least plan on refreshing the newest old one.

Why? Because I have no job, and don't have the money to spend on a properly rebuilt 22re which is close to 3 grand. Even if I did, why would I spend 3 grand on a 120hp 22re when I can get a 1uz swap for the same price?
Then I have the fact that I do not own my own garage/driveway and am borrowing this space woe the weekend. I can not do an engine rebuild and swap in two days. Im not that good.
Sadly my life is not set up for in depth automotive work right now, and the engine dying was something I did not see happening and caught me way off guard. If my landlord had not been a nice guy and let me use his space for two days, I would have had to sell the entire truck and a huge loss.
I replaced as many seals and gaskets has I could or thought it needed, but this engine is going to last me for at least another hundred thousand miles until I can afford a proper motor swap.

There's nothing wrong with a used engine. Just because it's used doesn't mean it's no good. Not to mention, a 22re is pretty much indestructible... as long as it has oil in it.

Yeah and this is a lower mile engine from a '93.
I found pools of oil in the intake manifold on the old motor. I also found tons of copper and metal flakes in the oil pan.

This is what no oil does to your bearings

I got it! SHE RUNS! Feels good.

I had to replace all the fuel injector electrical plugs today as the guy who helped me out broke a few. Not so much his fault as they were all brittle and easy to brake.
Also grabbed some new NGK spark plug wires.

Needs a valve adjustment I think. All the timing is spot on, but its got a good ticking and an exhaust leak at the header/down pipe. No coolant or big oil leaks. Runs well and at a good temperature.
I also got some new NGK spark plug wires that I installed when I did the injector plugs.

                              Things I replaced:
                              engine mount bushings
                              fuel filter
                              oil pan gasket
                              valve cover gasket and seals
                              new NGK spark plugs
                              NGK spark plug wires
                              some vacuum hoses
                              fuel injector electrical connectors
                              oil filter

The clutch looked almost new. Good to know.

I'm so happy to see another 22RE in that engine bay. I'm sorry to hear about the surprise destruction, but great work on the quick motor swap.
