Im lazy and want to lose weight, but how?

Im a fairly healthy guy, but Ive always had a belly. Im only about 5'6", 5'7" depending on my hair and have weighed around 155 until a few years ago. I was fine with being at that weight because ideally I wanted to be at 150 and that was close enough for me.

Then, as I closed in on my 30s, I was in the 165 range and now Im about to turn 33 and am in the 170-175 range. It's weird because I feel like I eat a lot better now than I ever have in my life and its not making any difference. I rarely eat junk food, but I do still have a sweet tooth. I dont drink alcohol anymore, nor do I have the munchies either.

My current "diet" is a Protein shake for breakfast (8oz milk, a banana, 2 ice cubes and a scoop of the powder).I eat an apple around 11am. Lunch is usually around 1pm and consists of a turkey wrap that I make from stuff I get from Trader Joes and finally, dinner I eat some chicken, usually.

Recently I decided I need to start exercising again so Ive been waking up about an hour earlier than usual and going running. Its only been a week and Im not running much (usually 20-30 minutes) and Im not really running the whole time either. I partially tore ligaments in my ankle in my early 20s and so I have to be careful on it. I run on grass and plan on getting something for my ankle to help protect it, but this is pretty much where Im stuck. I wont go to the gym, and I cant really exercise after work because Im usually busy, so this is where Im at.

Calling all beefcakes!! What do I need to change, or what am I doing wrong??

    Sincerely

    Fluffy

it all depends on what your goals are. Body building Muscular, Athletic, tone, skinny, endurance. there is a way for each one. You won't lose weight unless you burn more calories than eat but at the same time that's not always true. if you want to lose a belly it comes down to eating right and cardio but it is also genetics and where the fat will come off at, you can't just target it.

1 week is not enough time to notice a difference. The key to being healthy/fit is consistency with workout and eating properly. Drink lots of water, get at least 30 min cardio in daily, and eat lean foods and you will see results. But be consistent! If you say you're going to work out 5/7 days a week, even if its only 30 min a day, just do it. Hold yourself accountable and to push yourself, you can double a routine one day if you skipped the day before, but be careful as this mentality can lead you to "owing" more to yourself the next day just to put it off today. If you start doing that too much you'll fail yourself. Its really not hard to find that 30 min everyday.

Also, your body isn't metabolizing like it was in your late teens/twenties so you're going to have to work harder to keep it off than you did in the past.

I know skinny will never happen (nor do I want it), so I guess somewhere between toned & athletic

edit: I know one week isnt enough to notice a difference, its just a start. People told me running for 20-30 minutes wasnt enough and I dont see myself ever running for an hour each morning

It's all about calories in < calories out.

Seeing you've got an ankle injury, running (even on soft surfaces with properly fitted running shoes) could be risky. Chances are you could re-injure yourself. A bicycle offers similar benefits yet lower impact on your legs. If you have access to a swimming pool (the kind with 25-meter or 50-meter length lanes), swimming laps is a great full-body exercise that is low impact. A few years ago I had swimming as part of my exercise routine....usually twice a week, 1 hour each time. It did a lot to help me meet my fitness goals.

your going to want like 15% body fat then I guess. You won't see much of a six pack abs there. but to get that just do cardio and eat good with 4 days of weight training. But it's mostly about diet. 80% diet 20% training.
I'm at 10% and starting carb cycling for the last 5%, going beast mode with 350g of protein a day. I pretty much eat every 2 hours it sucks.

No flour, no sugar, no processed foods.

I lost 50lbs in like 6 months, felt great and kept it off even after going back to crap food.

Its all about repetition. Just keep going to the gym day in day out. Im about 5'8 190ish and I hate eating clean cause im just a fat kid at heart. Lay off the carbs and lots of cardio will help you lose weight fast.

This guy has it right, cut those out and no workouts required.I'm 46 in the fall and have struggled for the last 20yrs,I've lost 20lbs in the last 10 weeks or so and I'm not being hardcore at all.

Another key thing I've found is fast one day a week, eat dinner and then no calories until dinner the next night.I didn't think I could do it but it really isn't that bad,I have a few almonds mid day if I get hungry.I lose most of my weight for the week the 2 days after the fast.

It works and like I said I'm not super hardcore about and cheat pretty much every day, simply keep the cheats small and the rebound isn't too bad.
