I also agree with the village idiot when he says to get a regular fuelled car but only because most diesels are made by VW and VW are the poorest quality cars in existence.Comment

Thanks for the reply guys... over the weekend i test drove both and my driving experience are as follows
2014 Jetta SportWagen TDI
- Station wagon (feels like a minivan inside but smaller headroom and closer to the ground)
- Dash and controls are normal, nominally conservative design.
- Engine Noise was obvious and sounds like my 4Runner (should be ok since I usually listens to NPR/FM radio)
- Sun/Moon roof was huge and amazing
- Navigation screen was tiny
- Cloth seats
- mileage says 42-45 mpg depending on my driving pattern
- High $300's monthly lease - $1K dp
- everyone's telling me they're a pain to work on when it breaks
2014 Mazda3 s Grand Touring
- Hatchback is like a minivan but smaller
- Dash and controls are impressive
- Engine Noise much better and pulls like a car
- Much fun to mod/cosmetics only as it is Auto as Wife/Daughter might drive it in future
- Much better sound system (Bose)
- Leather seats
- Mileage says 35-37 mpg
- Low $400 lease - $1K dp (sales rep just don't give in)
- No horror maintenance stories just that its a japanese car
leaning towards the mazda but lease cost is really botherin me...
Again, this car is mainly for driving to work only ~200 hgwy miles daily. BUT will keep it for Daughter's first car. This is not I want but a need for me to use for work.
Ford Focus/Fiesta and Golf are good cars but is too small to place some tools and stuff, would be tight to put 3 people/guys in the back. buying anything expensive like bmw/audi is not reasonable. Honda Civic's/Toyota Corolla's are great reliable cars but dont have appeal to me... my travel is already long and
want something to live it up even a little.
again thanks for the feedback.Comment

And I really gotta laugh at anyone on this forum talking about how torque is the king of useable power - HELLO 325e! But all of you hypocrites will immediately jump on how terrible it is even though it's an absolute torque MONSTER and it revs higher than a diesel! But no, buy the smaller engine car because it revs higher! So which is it then you hypocrites?Comment

Go mazda, because fuck VW.
I may have an '09 mazda 3 hatch parts/dog hauler, that I beat because I hate it (boring, soulless economy car) but it does the job well, and I've only done oil changes and new rear brakes in the past 2 years.Originally posted by priapismMy girl don't know shit, but she bakes a mean cupcake.Originally posted by shamesonUsually it's best not to know how much money you have into your e30Comment

What are you talking about? You do know the points/rotor/cap/etc hasn't been used in a car in like 20 years right? Because I'm sure you're not talking about how unreliable solid-state electronics are because you'd really make yourself look stupid. And I know you're not talking about glow plugs being more reliable than spark plugs plugs because then you really are proving yourself to be a moron.

Yea, I have no idea what a crank position sensor, cam position sensor, ignition control module, or coil is.
Still more parts than a fuel injector per cylinder. Oh and no throttle body either.
Fact is that your claim of diesel engines having more parts to fail is bullshit.Last edited by Exodus_2pt0; 09-15-2014, 02:27 PM.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.Comment
