I saw on the news that the FAA is working out a plan to introduce regulated drone traffic.

I also read something to the effect of Amazon partnering with UPS to deliver packages to the trunk or hatch of a Prime customer's parked car, whether at your place of business, school, parking structure, etc.

Amazon Lockers are popular in third-world countries where addresses are not structured or reliable.

Both. Most of our Subs around here are fairly small with sub 30 units in it though we do have a couple in the area that are 100+. Other wise everything is very spreed out. Our driver leaves the terminal at about 8am and we dont see him normally till at least 5 but normally closer to 8.... Why because we are on the return trip from the Star Meadow run which is way the fuck out there. We also have places that UPS and FedEx go that the postal service dose not deliver too...... Then there is the weather, the northern rockies form oct-april is winter storm time golf carts dont go well in the snow and ice and depending on where you live in the valley average snow fall is 68 -120 inches a year down low and as much up to 300 inch average higher up. and it can snow in july in the valley even not just at the higher elevations as well with the right combination of weather moving though, yes its short lived but still it can happen ;)

Yeah, I think the driver would freeze to death.

My UPS rep said that on average they deliver ~7 million packages a day.
Between now and their "peak" day of December 22nd - it will build up to 38 million packages, per day.

If you think about the infrastructure impact of essentially taking your normal workload and increasing it 5X in the span of less than 2 weeks... it becomes essential to find alternate solutions to suitably handle the volume.
                Below the radar...

The guy that picks up our outgoing UPS Ground at work every day just told us he's about to make $90k this year alone, with a large percentage of that being this and last month. He doesn't get off until about 9pm this time of year, when most of the time, he's off at like 6.

Yea I got a buddy that works for fedex says they don't get paid by the hour but by the size of the load. When I talked to him he had 100 delivery's but those 100 delivery's were worth like 200 bucks. I'd says that's a good days work.

If you're young and single, that would be ok, but it's not great for a family.

Here in Nebraska if you got that pay check every week you'd be okay. This state Has the best economy in the country.

I think you have that confused with North Dakota, They have no unemployment and in places are paying Fast food ordertakers 20 bucks an hour to start off the street...... That and no one want to live in Nebraska, its like Iowa but worse.......

I would not leave the house for that ( around home if I could do it in a 8 hour day for something to do I might think about it). Thats a gross of 1000-1200 a week Divide that by 60 hours a week at best thats a 20 bucks an hour flat rate at best. Not too bad when your working 60+ hours a week, but there is NO OT rate with UPS so your making a flat rate..... Yes it can be a good living, but like I said our driver never gets in before 7pm and this time of year I have seen him getting into his personal truck at the terminal at 10pm previous years....

Sure there is. Our driver at Leatherman was making double-time and a half when he worked the day after Thanksgiving. He makes OT all the time. Maybe it varies from the type of route you have? He does commercial pickups/deliveries.
