I feel like these two cars are well off different parts of the spectrum, but I feel they are the two closest matched cars within the price range. Which do you choose and why? I can't decide since I like both equally. Opinions? No subbies in this discussion.

944 Turbo/S vs Evo 8/9

but 4 banger tarbros. Sometimes I feel like 951s dont get any love. Out of the box in stock form the Evo has the 951 on handling, but in power the Porsche will walk an Evo. Reliability wise they're equal?
In the looks department honestly I think the 951 wins with a more classic design. Evos are just too "boy racer" cop magnets.Last edited by E30_Pare; 12-13-2015, 10:09 PM.

I would go Evo. As someone with 951 and Evo experience, Evo hands down.
The 951 was a nightmare past stock. We never could get the thing right, and Turbo selection is practically non existent.
Also, the 4g63 is legendary. I have considered an Evo or even 1/2g DSM's.Last edited by Exodus_2pt0; 12-13-2015, 10:13 PM.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

Never messed with those but yes.
If looking to just buy the car and enjoy it as it was designed, the 951 is great. That said, its a modifiers nightmare. Lots of money for mediocre results. The one I worked on still isn't running right due to a lack of good Tuning solutions. If it were my car, I would say throw Megasquirt at it and the car would probably be pretty awesome. Still though, it was a shit ton of effort to work on.
I won't deny, they are very cool cars.
FC Rx7's always had my interest. Don't think I'll own one, but I've considered swapping a 13b into the Miata. No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

I've had a few 944's but never a 951, personally I'd take the evo all day long. Although handling wise I'd put all my money on the 951 when there set up correctly they are absolutely incredible in the bends. I feel like evo's are so much better to mod and can take a lot more punishment. There's also so much more aftermarket parts out there for the evo's.

Evo. Having seen the hassle involved in making a 944 Turbo fast, and not being a fan of the cramped engine bay and turbo placement (under the intake manifold) I would avoid them. Good candidates for an engine swap, though.

Lol, that photo brings back awful memories! Funny that someone took the time to demonstrate it though.
Ls3 951? Yes please.
All this said, I got to drive a well sorted S2 with a fresh engine in my early wrenching days at a performance shop. It was an awesome car! That big 4 cylinder (3.0l) left its mark.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

The Turbo S is becoming a valuable collectible. I'm knee deep in a factory+ rebuild on mine (K27/6, Tial F38, iron liners, new forged pistons, etc). With the increasing rarity and climbing prices I suppose it'll be worth it. Can't wait to get behind the wheel.
Nothing to add about Evo's other than they look pretty sweet.
If you want a classic German sports car the 951 in any form is a really cool machine. But for a daily driver, I guess it depends on how much punishment you are willing to endure.'88 528e /// '88 M5 /// '89 951 /// '98 E430 /// '02 M5
