I'm not saying that the palestenians are innocent in this whole deal, but nether is Isreal.
although its safe to say that if the brits would have given the jews a nation (that wasn't theres) somewhere else in the world we would not have this problem.
I think isreal is the aggressor in this situation. thats just not the way that it is portrayed in the news. My buddys sister (who is a jew) lived in isreal for a few years and wrote a book about it, its pretty amazing, check it out if you want.

I believe that the conflicts in the region will never end. Some years are good, some are bad. Sure things can escalate, but I don't think there is every going to be any unified world backing on either side of the boat.

      Good post Mrk

Palestine belonged to the Jews just as much as the Arabs. The funny thing is that the Arabs have only themselves to blame for their current position. The UN split Palestine nearly 50/50 but that wasn't good enough for them so they declared war on Israel. Even with the backing of every other country in the Middle East, the Arabs still managed to get their asses handed to them. To top it all off Israel mananged to gain more land and Arab allies, Jordan and Egypt, took the rest of it. If they would have just left well enough alone and been happy with what they were given, then they wouldn't be getting bombed into submission right now and World War 3 wouldn't be upon us.

you teal deer'd my post, didnt you tom?

during ww1, the british promised in writing all of the land that's there to the arabs for the creation of an arab state if they fought the turkish. the arabs pwned the turkish, and the british went behind the arab's backs and subdivided the region in a different way then what they had agreed to, keeping most of what's now jordan for themselves and giving most of the western land in whats now lebanon and israel to the french. the french deposed the free arab government headquartered in damascus and its leader to iraq. after ww2, the french offered up the land to the jewish refugees, and israel was created.

israel made nothing but arab enemies through the six days war, and it wasnt until recently that arab states would even officially recognize the state of israel. most still dont.

the lebanese ARE NOT palestinians, "palestinians" refers to the arab group who occupied the land before the creation of israel. the lebanese are the people "getting bombed into submission".

What history book did you read? Britain was tired of dealing with the quarelling in Palestine so they told the UN to take care of it. The UN drew up a plan to partition Palestine nearly 50/50. The Jews agreed and immediately declared independence and created Israel. The Arabs did not agree and decided to start a war against Israel. Even with the backing of nearly every other country in the Middle East they still managed to get their asses handed to them and lose all of the land that they were partitioned in the process. Israel is not fighting Lebenon, they are fighting a Palestinian militant group known as Hezbollah that occupies Lebenon.

whaoh, i learn something new about this conflict every day.

i never said israel was fighting lebanon, i said the lebanese were the ones getting bombed to shit.

hezbollah isnt a palestinian group, theyre a lebanese group who formed mostly to spread islamofascism in lebanon.

Every terrorist group is affiliated with Palestine. That is the whole reason that they exist, to wipe Israel off the map and take the land for the Arabs. Hezbollah was formed to fight Israel when they occupied southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah is a syria-backed, iran-backed, faction of militant Shi'ite Muslim LEBANESE. Yes they were formed when Israel occupied south lebanon, much the same way most 'terrorist groups' rise from populations that feel oppressed. In spite of the fact that Hizbollah definitely has part of the blame in this current conflict, most sources agree that it wouldn't exist at all today had Israel stayed within its own borders in 1982.

And this is not quoted from a history book.

I'm sure we all agree that PEACE in the middle east region would be a much better catalyst for int'l business, lower worldwide oil prices, and increased trade and prosperity, so let's hope this madness ends soon.

With things like this going on in the world, it amazes me how the general American public can go around taking what great lives we have for granted and turn a blind eye to problems such as this.

Correct me if im wrong but didn't Hezbollah dig a tunnel under the border, kill Israeli soldiers and capture 2 others? Also, Israel is attacking strictly military targets where as Hezbollah is attacking civilian targets. If your government would have taken care of Hezbollah like the UN told them to, you wouldn't be in this position right now.
