I prefer liquor to beer, but that's just me. Stolichnaya vodka is generally my go to.

Havent had many but their "Pumking" is hands down the best pumpkin beer a person can buy.

My advice to OP, go to different breweries or taphouses and buy flights of everything. Youll find what suits you easy enough.

I tend to enjoy the darker stuff. Stouts and porters are my go to. And then I'll also do some red ales and the like. I could drink Guinness all night. I also don't understand why everyone loves IPAs. I can't stand them. But that's why you have to figure out what you like. I can also enjoy PBRs on the regular for something cheap. Corona is awful. When I first turned 21, I loved Newcastles. It was just something so much better than the usually college stuff I was used to.

If you want to get into good beer, wheats/hefeweizens are the best way to start. Blue Moon and Shocktop are good starters. Then from there, the sky's the limit. If you're interested in IPA's, I'd suggest starting with some session ones. Founders All Day IPA is really good, but if you're lucky enough to find Oskar Blues Pinner, go with that.

My advice is find a nice bar and go there once a week with friends and try a couple of different beers every time. When me and my friends all finally turned 21 we found a bar that had 42 beers on tap and would meet up every Thursday and try a a couple of new ones. We quickly learned what we liked and what we didn't. I personally usually go for Sierra Nevada, Devils Backbone, or Guinness.

Laugnitas ipa or really any lagunitas are great. also lost coast breweries beers. i live 20 mins from lagunitas and its my favorite beer. from your description Ipa sounds like your winner tho. i hate light beer and fruity beer as well. but as stated by i think stonea here. go find a tavern or pub with a bunch on tap get some tasters try it all get wasted and figure it out.
