to be honest, 'round these parts, we don't got too many ignorant type folk.

they know the car is older, and that it's RWD. They know it's an inline-six (just like their cressidas and supras) or an inline-four (every other car in the parking lot) they know its german, they know BMW means bavarian motor works.

the only thing I've seen that really surprises people about my car is that it has seat heaters...

Seems FWD is a popular assumption.

I've personally had the same guy tell me 3 or 4 times that it was a FWD.

    It's a V6, right?

Women in general: Spoiled little rich boy driving your new BMW when I drive a Camry...

    New? eh... not so much.

Ricers at school: Dont you wish you had a 240sx so you could drift??
    Me: Um.. I can
FWD: No you cant; you have to have RWD to do that.
Me: Ok you win. I know nothing.

    It's not worth arguing sometimes.

I had a kid at my little brother's high school ask me that. About MY car.

Then there's the people who try to tell me that my car is a 4-cylinder, the people that try to tell me that BMW stands for "British Motorworks" (which I'm guilty of myself before I got into cars), and the ricers that try to tell me that their Dad has a factory-turbo M3.

LOL, i tell my friends that if you dont know shit about E30's then you are oblivious to them.

i have had people ask me if i have a 4 cylinder in autos class once. as the hood is open. i told him to count the spark plugs.

people ask if it is fwd. its hilarious.

i havent had to punch anyone yet, but i cant wait for the day.

In my first E30 (early car), on IE's, the border guard going into the states was convinced my car was full of dope because it was sitting so low.

Officer: Are you smuggling drugs or booze?
    Me: No sir.
Officer: Are you sure? Your car is sitting way too low to be empty
Me: Of course I'm sure, the car has lowering springs and performance shocks.
Officer: Now why would anyone in their right mind want to do that?
Me: Because the car handles better?
Officer: Turn your car off, hand me your keys, I'm going to search your car.
    Me: <PWNT>
Officer: So, what am I gonna find in the trunk?
Me: A spare tire, a toolkit and a jack.
    Officer: Jack Daniels?
Me: No officer, please just search my car so that I can get on my way, I have nothing to hide.

30 mins later, I'm finally moving again. Lesson learned, take mom's minivan next time.
