Guys cool it, when all this is looked at from the outside (I mean outside of the US), this is a matter of perception, what countries will never understand is that all continents, nations, and religions live totally different realities. To many countries in the world democracy and freedom are so alien that they can't even grasp their meaning, or know what to do with it when they get it, in others like (as an example, Chile), democracy ends up being "what gets promised to the illiterate dumb fucks to get their vote", so once we get democracy we fuck it up electing bullshit artists that don't give a fuck about our countries, all they care about is how to become richer, so what if 1.1 billion dollars get "misplaced" in Chilean railways, who cares about congressmen on tape getting briefcases of money, a cellulose plant killing off all swans in the south of Chile (and our local EPA saying) "Anyway the swans weren't local birds".

But when a general that cares gets pissed at the depredation and the robbery takes over the government and executes all these traitor criminal motherfuckers he gets convicted for disrespecting human rights.

At least in my book, when you betray your country with corruption, fuck the environment because you were bribed, or cause death or poison your fellow countrymen just to make a point, be it political or social, you automatically loose your "human" satus and become something else, therefore it's moral (if not legal) to shoot you in the back of the head and bury you in an unmarked grave. / end rant. :hitler:

On most issues, I personally believe that most people have the same or similar viewpoints, however, the people in congress would rather that we remain divided and that we fight over petty issues so that it will distract us from paying attention to what they are really doing.

Typically the politicians are there to abuse their power and influence so that they can make themselves and their friends rich and more powerful. Everyone in congress is on the same side and they conspire to keep the general public divided so that we are in the street arguing over taxes when we ALL want to take home more money on payday. They will have us arguing over welfare reform when we all agree that anyone who is able-bodied should get a job and go to work. We argue over gay rights when most of us keep our sexuality private. We even will argue over whether abortion should be legal when we all agree that it should not be used as a form of birth control.

So they want us to take a side.. whether conservative, liberal, democrat, or republican and then they employ a goon squad that takes a dominant position in the media to create these staged viewpoints to polarize americans on either side of the political divide. There is so much hipocracy in both political parties. That alone should tell you that all of this madness comes from the same source.
