There is a difference between over all length and the length of the barrel.

Shotguns in the US can not be shorter than an 18" barrel or it requires it to be classified as a SBS (a NFA item) SBS = Short Barreled Shotgun

I believe the Federal Government requires the over all length to be 26"

Yeah I was not referring to OAL, just bbl length. The barrel is what makes a shotgun hard to maneuver not the OAL.

      Why would you want a .380 Glock? Just get a sub-compact 9mm...

Late to the party here I guess, I've been looking at getting a Mossberg 500 12ga sometime next year. I've never owned a gun, but I've shot a couple with a police friend of mine (9mm beretta, .45 etc) and was wondering how much this type of shotgun should go for. I saw it locally for $200 fairly new with only 100 shells or so shot.

If lucky, the E36 will die peacefully, in its natural habitat, and be given the prestigious honor of donating its parts to an E30

I suggest a Remington 870. Buy a plain jane one for around 300 or a dressed up 18" bbl 870 for less than 500 BNIB.

I have decided my next gun will be the Springfield EMP40. After handling and firing one today, I have made up my mind.

Thats a good price. They are about 300ish to 350.00 new. They are well made and tons of aftermarket parts. Post pics after purchase! :)

Also, that Diamondback does not look like a Glock and its not even remotely related to a glock. Unless you mean its black. Then yes, they look similar, as black DAO handguns.
I have a .357 taurus snubnose and have put a ton of lead through it including a box of 180gr bear loads most recently and it is a plenty stout gun. I carried it last weekend hiking in teton national park.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a taurus revolver.

Anybody have a Galil? I've been seeing them around 500 f/s but the stuff I've read just breaks my heart since I wanted one so badly. CAI basically made a butt-ton of them with improperly heat-treated receivers so they can wear out of spec. So far I think that anything post serial GLN5xxx is safe-ish to buy.

After shooting an emp 40 and a colt defender back to back I had a hard time picking a clear winner. I figured the colt would win hands down. Still trying to decide which will be my next carry piece

Hey CreamE30, about your question yes the early recievers Century used had all sorts of problems. Besides reciever being soft in the lugs and ejector, the mag wells were causing people fits too.

If you can swing it order from J&G sales, have it sent to your local FFL if he's on their list. And check the reciever there, and the GLN prefix is what to look for. I wouldn't risk ordering the steel mags, they are rusty crap from Central America. Mine likes the Orlites. I am gonna order some new IMI steels, in the future, and see if the reciever likes those.

^so what do I do if my FFL gets it and its not the GLN prefix, I can't remember what the other ones were ATM. Do i just say "nah don't want it" and have him send it back?

On another note, How do you like it? I've heard its a little on the heavy side but are very nice otherwise. Is the accuracy decent? I don't need AR15 sub MOA accuracy, but I do like to hit what I'm aiming at. I like the sights on the Galil much more than the AK.

Golani (Galil) sights are shit. The mil-spec ones I'm sure were awesome but the ones that Century sells have the shittiest sights I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The rear sight is mounted on the dust cover, which has the potential to move. The front sight is usually canted and is hard as all hell to adjust (even with the proper tool). My father and I both own one of these and even with the shit sights do not regret the purchase, as they are nice shooting guns. We put UTG rails on our guns, red dots, and now the guns shoot right where you point them albeit a little heavier than before but eh. I enjoy shooting my mutt AK more than the Golani just because its lighter.

Does the Colt Defender only come in .45? I might unload my Kimber Stainless to help finance an EMP .40. I think I want to consolidate all my handgun calibers to .40 and 9mm.

With handloads I've printed 2" groups at 50yds and 3 1/2 to 4 1/2" at 100yds. The forestock on mine was ridiculously tight, and I had to remove some material to relieve the tension on the barrel. My groups inproved from the bench after I found a 12rd mag, I was better able to bench the rifle afterwards.

The rifle likes 55gr bullets, and even with Wolf I can put 20 all in the black at 100yds. I find the sights more than adequate, a big leap over the garden variety AK, but I shoot quite a few iron sighted rifles. As long as my vision holds up I'll keep shooting them that way.
