Gotcha, if I were that guy I'd keep an extra buffer tube and stock on hand in case the zombies show up... BATFE would be the least of your concerns.

I've submitted for the SBR stamp though it's for another matching lower I have set aside for it. This particular lower will stay a pistol for car carry due to TN law.

HCP holders are allowed to transport "long guns" in their vehicles but cannot have a round in the chamber, whereas "pistols" are allowed to have a round in the chamber while in transport. Stupid, yes I know, but the build technically applies to the letter of the law. Once my new 10.5" 300blk barrel comes in and I assemble another upper I'll have a pistol worth paying for the 2nd stamp for. ;)

I may or may not have just placed an order for a M+M M10 762.

Been eyeing them for a while now.... I was torn between an Ar or AK and came down to the M+M being an awesome rifle for dirt cheap. I'll spend the extra cash on bulk ammo and range time.

Good call, you'll have a blast with that AKM.

anyone have any suggestions for a decent holopoint? not the cheapest, but definitely on the cheaper side of midrange?

            for an ar-15.

Best bet is a varmint hunting round, will probably be a soft point. For self defense, FMJ is just fine.

AR rifles aren't exactly my idea of a defense weapon. Unless you're being invaded then I guess it would be better than a pistol or shotgun. I'll stick with my .45 for home defense. On an unrelated note, I bought an alien gear holster. Heard good things and the price is definitely right. The kydex shells are interchangeable and you can exchange them for life.

Finally assembled that extra lower I had laying around.

On top: Daniel Defense M4 V3. Only modification so far is a Magpul Angled Fore Grip in place of the Vertical Fore Grip. Much better.

On bottom: Spikes Tactical Lower Receiver, Stag Arms lower receiver kit, Magpul CTR stock, Magpul PMag 10/30 Magazine (California Legal).

The only non legal thing on this lower build is the magazine release button.

You'd rather have a .45 handgun than an AR for home defense? Wow...just wow.

There's an old saying, a pistol is only good enough until you get to your rifle. I'd highly recommend you re-evaluate your thought process on the matter.

If someone is in my house, absolutely. I want to shoot the intruder, not the other people in my house laying on the other side of a wall(not an issue right now, as i live alone now....unless my cat is exactly where the bullet goes). Much less chance of going through walls with a hollow point. I'd rather have a shotgun for home defense but I don't have a pump action right now.

Also, the AR is as close to my bed as the .45. ;) Don't get your panties in a bunch, I have options.

I always go commando, no panties to get in the way...

You were acting as if it's crazy to want a rifle for a home defense gun. As a matter of fact JHP or not, pistol rounds go right though drywall with continued lethal force. If you're super concerned about it, then load up some bird shot in your shotgun and be prepared to really piss of an intruder. Personally, I'd rather just choose my shots and stop the threat immediately.

really, you whack a intruder with a 12 gauge of any load hes going to STOP RIGHT THERE, hes going to be way more than pissed off hes going to be getting close to dead. At point blank H/D ranges #6 is going to make a mess and tear an intruder apart pretty good . Though if your using a scatter gun it should be loaded with 00 or #4 buck anyway.

A scatter gun is going to stop a threat immediately as anything else if not more so

A pistol is just fine for home defense. In the home its close quarters perfect for a pistol that is easy to maneuver. A rife is a bit bigger and higher penetration with the rounds.
