From what I remember reading suppressors are encouraged in multiple european countries that allow rifle hunting. IIRC multiple Scandinavian countries they are handled the same as a firearm or are not classified as anything important, so completely legal. They just have to contend with the shit gun laws. Blame hollywood and the "guns are bad mmmmkay?" campaign for the stigma surrounding suppressors here.

I got my trust taken care of. Super easy process. I was given a few prices on suppressors and was roped into pre-ordering a Spectre II. I can file on Aug 1 then the wait begins.

I'm e-filing a 10/22 sbr for my first step into NFA territory this week. I should have a pretty badass suppressed pocket rifle by Christmas.

on the topic of suppressors, how does it work when you wanna make your own?

reason i ask is because of oil filter suppressors. yes, you can just buy them, but apparently the ATF considers the filter as part of the suppressor (not just the threaded adapter) and you have to goddamn get replacement filters through the company you bought it from, even though literally every parts store in this country (think it's a generic explorer/ranger/mustang filter) carries them

not a big issue if you're shooting a 22 through it, as i hear they last pretty long with them, but i've heard they don't last for very long with larger calibers

Yes in England you can buy a suppressor like buying candy. However, good luck getting a gun. Almost opposite attitude here.

The Hughes amendment needs to be expelled.

You have to file a Form 1, lots of info on them. There is a FB group dedicated to just that.

Form 4 to buy, form 1 to build.

For the oil filter suppressor you have to form 4 the thread adapter, then I don't know the rest. I have heard that the novelty wears out quick on the oil can suppressors and they're really not useable for any practical type function. If I'm spending $200 on a stamp, I'd rather spend a little more to get my money's worth and get something half decent.

I would personally do a form 1 build like one of these- arfcom

or buy a "solvent trap" kit like those sold from SD Tactical and build it from their parts.

I love my Sparrow, but thinking of making a 7.62 can.

I have a 5.56 can now, and wish I went with 7.62. Then I would have had more options to use it. But I feel they are a bit over rated and did not want to pay close to $1k for a decent can with the tax stamp. But $350ish out the door and I built it, pretty cool I think.

i hear 223/556 doesn't suppress very well (or i guess it doesn't shoot subsonically very well. something about not enough gas pressure to properly cycle) is that actually the case

I've also heard there is a lot of blowback with an AR that is suppressed.

the problem with most 5.56 is that the bullet is super sonic and you will get the clap as the bullet leaves. If you run sub sonic 5.56 its actually pretty decent in regards to suppression goes. But it does not have enough power to cycle a bolt on AR platforms.

On DI AR's blow back is pretty bad shooting suppressed. When piston ARs came out, it help control a lot of that as gas is not forced back though to the bolt.

I got my 5.56 suppressor for basically the cost of stamp and transfer. So I had to being my first. But if I were to do it again I would get the 7.62. Only because I can use it for both .22 guns and .30cal guns.

I'm seriously thinking of building a mega maten ar10

Primary arms has GI mags for 7 bucks each limit 10.

how much you think it's gonna run you?

Like double a pretty nice -15 build...

Something like 2.2-2.5k without any glass :( just the lower/upper is ~600, build wouldn't happen very fast though

Would be a pretty lightweight build, I have no desire to build a 12+pound rig, I've been doing some adding and I think it can be ~8-9 pounds, basically like what my 15 weighs which I'm fine with the weight

Would do an slr adjustable gas block and maybe a jp bolt and silent recoil spring.

Where are you seeing that? Im looking and cant find.

Im currently building an AR10 but from Palmetto State. Well the lower and upper receiver anyway. Why because it was a deal I could not turn down. In that I have found that there is no "USGI Standard" in the AR10 world. Mega has some great reviews and looks pretty solid. Just do your homework if you are going to piece things together.

I got the lower compete and have been head deep in other projects to finish this one. Post pics of you go that route. I think you are on the right track if you wanted an AR10 platform.
