Manic: Personally I would not be carrying a 1911 if your just starting out. Just for the fact that you have to carry condition 1 (cocked and locked) or hammer down and locked. Thats at least 1 or 2 things you have to remember to do under high stress, that can easily be forgotten or messed up and you zip one down your leg.

I would say though the XD family is more conducive to CCW than a 1911 in that it dose not require you to thumb the hammer or carry it in a traditional condition 1. Though it has a similar safety set up with a beaver-tail and similar manual safety location to the 1911 (this is for the 45 models I have shot).

In reality though you need to handles and shoot as many different makes and models as you can, to see what fits your hands the best, what feature's you like and dont like and what points for you the best. The one that is the most comfortable for you operate and you shoot the best naturally is the one you should get.

I agree for carry. The glock is nice for that, no thumb safety. My carry 380 has no safety at all, as with most of the guns like mine. When you need it, you need it now

I'll admit I haven't shot in a while, but I've still held plenty (I know that isn't close to be same) I was messing with my buddies compact Sig P220 .45 earlier tonight........that is great feeling gun.

I plan on shooting a bunch of different guns. I'm just meaning toward that.

I are big fan of SIG's if you shoot them well you cant go wrong with a Sig at all

Just ordered 2000 rounds of 762x51 for 70 cents a round. Found some M80 ball from Magtec in stock..... I like 308 much better but have to buy it while you can get it.

He also had a compact Glock .40...........didn't like the feel at all compared to the Sig. But I've never been a huge fan of Glock's anyway.

After Democrats in New York rammed a sweeping assault on the right to keep and bear arms through the legislature that failed to exempt police officers from the draconian restrictions, gun owners and even some lawmakers are planning what has been dubbed potentially the largest act of civil disobedience in state history. by Alex Newman

And so it begins. Will be interesting to see how this all pans out over the next year or two.

I might actually like HK if I could figure out how to release the fucking magazine lol. As a newb, I always wanted the HK USP....until I actually shot one. They are the equivalent to Glock for you, they just don't work for me. I didn't mind the P2000 even though it still had the retard lever for a mag release.

I loveeeeee my USP! I actually prefer their mag release to others

I wish I could swing a .45 compact usp for carry but I like the simplicity of my point and shoot Glock for that

For a defensive gun, I like the opposite. Ive converted all my Hks to variant 3 for that reason. And Glocks "Safe Action" pistols do in fact incorporate 3 safties...but I think when you say "physical" to are refering to a lever actuated safety.
