I think its maybe different where I live, here in Rochester crime is low. Nothing ever happens ever. I can't think of one place in town it would be sketchy to walk around at in the early morning, maybe even with a wad of cash I doubt much would happen. Most of anything that goes on people ask for.Leave a comment:

Yes, I sometimes take hitchhikers, if they are located in a safe location for me to stop. I'll also stop only if they inspire me confidence. If one day my car breaks down on the side of the road, hopefully I will be returned the favor.
30 years ago, it was normal to hitchkike. Not anymore.Leave a comment:

I have picked up a few, pretty much always when i have a buddy in the car. I have done it a few times but in towns that i know. I skated around today for about an hour and found myself very downhill from my house. I stuck my thumb up for less than a min but my mom drove by and picked me up so that doesnt count. Its a good way to get around.Leave a comment:

My (female) friend used to hitch hike on a regular basis. One day, she was trying to hitch a ride home from school, and some sleazeball picked her up. A few minutes after they got on the road, he whipped out his johnson and started trying to negotiate prices with her. She started screaming at him to stop the car, and ended up hopping out at a stoplight and walking (or running) home.
She doesn't look anything like a hooker, but she does have a tendency to get herself into STUPID, easily avoidable situations like that. Good thing she's a ninja.Leave a comment:

We had a similar saying that went, "Gas, grass or ass. Nobody rides free."
The only time I picked up someone was when there was this family of 5 from out of town stranded on the side of the road after their tierod broke. All 5 of them piled into the E30 and I brought them home with me. Looking back on the situation, it might have been smarter to put them up in a hotel. I just felt so bad for them.Leave a comment:
