So yesterday was Bike New York's 5 Borough Bike Tour. This was my second year and we keep bringing more young people. We had a great time. This pretty much sums up my ride...

Lotsa beers and a beautiful day for ~50miles on my bike...

Saw a couple nice track bikes there too which was pretty sweet...

Question for the road bike riders. I have a Diamond Back mountain bike that I picked up cheap, but I'm thinking of getting a Trek Series 1.1. I wanted a road bike from the start but I couldn't pass up the deal I got, mainly because I'm broke. Anyway, what differences can I expect going from a mountain bike to a road bike? Any opinions on the trek 1.1?

The acceleration isn't the same, but once those things get up to speed they steamroll everthing in their path. Not as nimble as the 26" bikes in the twisties, especially hairpins. Great for ss applications, but suspension tech has some ground to make up before they can truely compete with the full suspension 26" market, IMO.

I've been looking at Treks while shopping for a bike. Compared to a mountain bike, any of these road bikes will feel pretty nimble, will not be as comfortable though.

I guess the Trek 1.1 is good as long as you don't ride anything else that is nicer. I made that mistake and I probably won't settle for anything less than 105 components, they just shift so nice compared to the cheaper components. But even the 1.1 model has the STI shifters which are cool. Also you can check out the Felt Z100, pretty similar in price. Looks awesome but the components aren't as nice as some of the other ones out there.

NICE! I have never been a fan of "Leftys" but that looks like a nice trail bike! Speaking of which I'm going to head out and go for a trail ride now! :D

I had so much fun riding today! Duthie Hill has some of the best trails I've ever ridden. It's small but the quality makes up for it! Lol

FS locally, cheap. Owner has no idea what it is, says it was appraised for 500$ a while back.

Dude, that looks like a target special, plastic components, shitty everything etc etc. now I don't know a ton about bikes, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Trying to sell my new p.1 all over again. Miss the road bike, and don't really go mountain biking enough. :(
