I have always been into the Porter Cable stuff. I have both the 12 and the 14.4.

This looks like a very good deal:

      Includes two batteries for 189.95.

I was not even looking for a drill & after seeing the Bosch I ordered one. 3year warranty, 2 batteries, 189.95 I could not resist.

Hmmmm, that Bosch looks nice. But I'm still leaning toward the Milwaukee 18V li-ion. The batteries will last a lot longer between charges, it's still lighter than the Bosch, and again, it might seem silly to some, but that built-in hanger on the handle will be a godsend in most situations for me.

I know it's too small, but this is my fav Snap-On item I have bought in ages. Every tech at my shop use it as well, A top notch tool.

I can use it to run 4" drywall screws into a 2"x6"s for hanging lights, doing stuff around the house as well. A bit driver drill bit set with it and it will tackle most situations. I however dont think it's enough for a daily high end audio/video install tech. Maybe a backup for ladder work though.

Personally I would steer clear of Bosch.... we had about 25+ sets of 18V / 1/2" / Hammer Drills..... they didn't last long, we sent them back and bought all Dewalt 18V units.. so far no problems, it's a good product.

Well, I bought the Milwaukee today. It's this one:

Got it at Platt for $199, came with 2 batteries, a charger, and a nice case. I used it for a while today, it's definitely got just as much if not more power than my 14.4 DeWalt did, and it weighs half as much. And just like I thought, the belt hanger is the best feature about it, not to mention, the batteries have a push-button idicator on the front of them to show how much juice is left. I'm really happy with it!

these are great. i just jacked up the gears on mine last week breaking free a 10mm bolt. 1 year warranty...mine is 2 1/2 :(. a new gun by itself is only $60, too bad they have been on back order almost as soon as they came out. i'll be lucky to see my replacement one in 4 months.

Good purchase, plus it's the same drill as the Ridgid you were looking at.

Maybe in some respects, but this drill feels a lot more durable than the Ridgid, feels better put together. The drill head of the Ridgid also angles upward, whereas this one doesn't.

And it doesn't have that belt hook. :D I know I keep touching back on that fact, but even today when I first used it, it was a blessing. I was standing on the second from the top rung of a 18' ladder hanging a speaker bracket in a vaulted kitchen ceiling, and being able to just reach back and lift it off my belt was AWESOME.

Another one of the reasons I didn't get the Ridgid is because it doesn't come in a hard shell carrying case like the Milwaukee, it has a nylon bag, which doesn't have any kind of organization inside for the charger and batteries, and won't store as easily.

Any spot on this drill that is magnatized to hold spare screws and such? My Dewalt has that and I throw some spare drywall screws on it so that I always have some handy.
