Another thing haha: If you know anything, or have trained in any discipline you will know - Besides Lawler/Smith, Gina was by FAR the most skilled fighter out there. Her muay thai was great (at the start, got sloppy) and she almost finished a gogoplata. But in terms of womens mma, definately raised it's stock.

I was embarrassed to be an mma fan last night. The sport is trying to legitimize itself as a professional and amateur sport instead of a spectacle and they pull that. The Lawler-Smith stoppage I can see - thats the NSAC doctor's doing - the freakshow thompson-kimbo stoppage? Joke.
Not to mention the stripper dancers and bret rogers being accompanied by Busta Rhymes for one of the many WWE-like entrances.

Besides setting MMA back a step in its evolution and common perception, EliteXC just further proved that the UFC is leaps and bounds ahead of any other mma orginization in talent, production, legitimacy and every other aspect.

p.s. You don't stop a fight for a popped colli ear - he stopped it because he was "wobbly on his feet" - not even close to a definitive KO. Gary Shaw could NOT have Kimbo lose - especially to James Thompson

I don't see this AT ALL. The officials should have stepped in and given him his 5 full minutes THEN make that decision.

And about the Kimbo fight. If Kimbo would have landed two more hits like the three prior to the call it would have been over regardless.. Thompson really had no idea where they (the hits) came from.

im not sticking up for her for that - if fighting is your JOB, there's not a good reason to not make weight.

but still, pretty ridiculous, and it wasn't even a pound over, it was 3.5

I heard gladiators only requires 150+ for the women. Even with that excuse for this one (american gladiators obviously pays the bills better than small shows) she has habitually not made weight previously. That's unprofessional as a fighter and disrepectful to her opponents. They feel like crap and want some dimetapp while she smiles with her glasses on (I watched the weigh-in video for this fight, she was pretty nonchalant).

All that being said she's hot ;)



Can't believe Faber vs. Pulver went 5 rounds, but that was a battle. At least it wasn't a sparring match like most big name 5 rounders, they both went for it pretty hard.
