I am all for finding better more sustainable energy sources but not for the reason of the climate change hysteria, but because what are we going to do when the petro chemicals run out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last thing we need is more govt. regulation on our lives.

Social change is fundamental in civilizations to advance them. Especially with problems being caused by technology and both parents at work, i.e. the myspace generation - the country will need be proactive in dealing with problems instead of avoiding the issue in the name of "freedom".
Oh dear god, You really need to get into the real world. Crappy parenting is not some thing you should be brushing on. Its a problem yes but do you really want the Govt. to regulate parenting?????? Thats a very dangerous slope you are trying to tread on.

Go read George Orwell's 1984, this is the slope you are wanting this country down.

This country was founded on freedom to do as we wish, these freedoms have been eroded over the years but I assure you there a millions of us AMERICANS that will oppose any law like that.

like i said, not the government so much as the people need to take responsibility for themselves and help influence others actions.

I've read it. I want people to get their neighbors to recycle and incentives for companies to go about more intelligent means. this does not mean forcing anyone to do anything, but recommending advancement

once again, not a law. but you're much too stubborn and closeminded to truly consider anything like that. you're just putting your hands on your ears and going la la la la. that will do the country a lot of good

Hopefully companies and people can consider the overall picture of the community, the country, the environment when making decisions. Whether its a little more time or a little more money, there may be better choices to be made. No one ought to FORCE them, but encouragement is good. Some people won't need any incentive except doing what is better and setting a good example for others.

And not all choices are costly... some are actually smart if you are looking to improve things.
There are a couple of misconceptions about environmental stewardship, said Thomas V. Easterday, senior vice president, secretary and general council for SIA. One is that it will make money and the other is that it will cost money.

The return is in saving money by reducing costs. For example, a supplier uses brass lug nuts to hold wheels in place during shipping. SIA used to discard 33,000 pounds of brass a year. Now, the lug nuts are returned to the supplier and reused until they no longer are serviceable, when they are recycled. Granted, Easterday said, the payback is longer, but it’s there and it is enhanced by the long-term benefits for the environment.

SIA now has commercials talking about the plant, but I had no idea until Easterday came to speak to the class I was in about cars.

People and companies need to think of ALL the costs, both financial and environmental, when making decisions. Tax, fine, and other forms of negative incentives can only do so much and may not be as effective to handle externalities. BUT, if we think of these with a more open mind, then perhaps a difference can be made. Just like how a company can either solely worry about its profits, or worry about as well its employees, suppliers, customers, and community - it's how you frame it in your mind that sometimes determines what solution you think is best. Thinking about me, me, me, me will continue to have the country for the most part be selfish and using freedom for inefficient own benefit. It's not socialist to think about others - it's being human. Socialism is an inefficient system of forcing people to act a way, where we should just choose to do so with our freedom.

Ok grease tits, can we see your data about this "growing trend dating back 100 years?"

So if this "phenonmenon" of "global warming" has lasted 100 years, what was the big tittlywinks about global cooling during the 70s? Hmm, the data stated the earth had been getting cooler since the mid 40s. I am sure you will say this is related to "global warming."

Hmm, I am confused. Earth has had at least 4 ice ages. So where does the supposed Milankovitch cycles fit into all this?

No I think every form of government today is bad, but "progressive" liberals have no right to brainwash people into believing a huge conspiracy such as global warming. Yes, I know it's bad to waste but it's nothing to panic about. There's the same amount of molecules on the earth as when it first started, if not more from all the asteroids and such that have hit us.

Ok man, your type will push for legislation to archive these lofty goals of yours. Because your type apparently think you know what is best for everyone thus we need laws to tell everyone else what they need to buy, drive, eat, and throw away. How long till I need a permit to Wipe my ass after going #2, or will you guys try to ban that also??????

Look no further than CA, an the CA. air research Board or the banning of lead ammo also in CA, I can continue on how many govt. have way too much control over our lives.

Also reading comperhension (sp) must not be one of you stronger skills. I did not say climate changes, but rather solar out varies hour by hour, but that was part of a different debate.

oh yeah just because I live in the middle of nowhere MT and own many guns dose not mean I am closed minded or a Hick. We have meet face to face a while back heeter.

delfin: that last comment was again, right on target.

                        So anarchy is your preference?

Global warming is not something to worry about, but what we do and what we could be doing is - about our waste .

Nothing to panic about = not care to do anything towards the solution?

A lot more of those molecules are garbage and in landfills thanks to our throw-it-up culture.

summing someone up based on a few principles shows that you are quick to judge and very limited in your ability to understand people. i.e. closeminded

you have no cognitive ability to think people can make a difference or influence others without laws or regulation. you think that also anyone who would do something would go directly to legislation as the best idea. far from it, a lot know it's inefficient.

when you type that you are so much against change, it makes you seem like a stubborn american "back-woods man" who hates government.

Go back and read what he was referencing too. And yes, he was stating that the sun does not change daily, but was making a reference that the earth has been heating up, "at an exponentialy growing rate trending back 100 years." He worded it very odd. Also backing up what he said was this quote, "...Earth has always had natural climactic fluctuations. But the rate of change has accelerated to over 100x the normal rate, so obviously we are having some kind of effect."

I am asking to see evidence of these said changes? Is that fair?

Well, i must admit that the question i posed to the staunchly anti-gw crowd was not an honest, neutral question, but one designed to expose just how egotistical you all are.

I am not quick to judge, I have a problem with stupidity, which between this a the E85 thing you have show in spades.

When did I say people could not make a difference???????????????????

I do my part, I fix shit that I can rather than throw away, I recycle my cans, bottles and all the scrap metals I can. I am again all for a better energy source that but not due to the GW craze.

No cognitive ability??????? You sir have no clue, look where shit is going there are all kinds of laws all over world being enacted because of this fear mongering, all with no difinitive proof that we as a population have anything to do with it. I am sorry you seem like a very smart guy but you bought the propaganda hook line and sinker. If this was 1930's germany you would be 1st in line to invade poland.

nothing to panic about is right, there is not a dammed thing we can do about the sun and our distance form it.
