Are the people that thought it wouldnt impact consumers high on fucking crack? Considering the energy market is based on speculation, everythings going to go through the roof!

Gas already gets jacked up when a refinery worker in the middle east has a slip and fall and has to miss work for a couple of days.

Yep, 40% of the futures that are purchased on the market are people who refine oil. Everything else are speculators who have zero interest in the commodity itself.

As a student majoring in Geography and Environmental Studies... I think it's bullshit. Maybe the Earth is warming, but I think we're deluded to think we are capable of causing it, and even more so, stopping it.

But I'm forced to smile and nod with the hippies in my classes.

im pretty sure global warming is going on. Its Nov 1st , I live in L.A. and today it was fucking hot. It has only rained twice the hole year. Few years back it would rain alot more and would be cold around this time of the year. The world wont end anytime soon because of this but shits gunna change. One day we'll be living the movie water world lmao. just my 2cents.

Hippies are great like that. Last year in an Environmental Studies class, we had to do a project on local food vs imported food. My hippie partners were all gung-ho about how buying from a farmer on a street is so great for the environment, and I was trying to argue that the food is more likely to be covered in pesticides (as imported food faces regulations and what have you).

Hippie partners told me I was wrong, and then didn't put any of my slides into the presentation powerpoint. Fuckers.

I wouldn't be so mad if I was wrong, but that fact was told to me directly by the head of the Geography department.
