I agree, and I also don't see how giving billions of dollars in tax breaks and royalty concessions to the oil industry is helping - especially considering that big oil is breaking profit records every quarter.

It's like the right only approves of welfare when it aids corporations.

it's a different way of looking at it. liberals look at the billions of dollars in corporate profits and see "potential revenue stream". They view it as THEIR money. Hell, income tax is fucking ILLEGAL. we're still paying for the CIVIL WAR. how is there a tax break when there shouldn't be a tax in the first place?

I see it as them bringing us something we really like (oil) and making a profit on it. Why shouldn't they? What right do you have to their product or service? And do you have any idea how much of that money gets reinvested into our economy? Chevron by themselves have a $40 billion dollar capital budget for this year alone.

How many people does $40 billion employ? and I mean americans - not offshore jobs, because that money is all being invested here.

What if the goverment had that $40 billion? How much of it would be wasted on pork spending? you completely skirted my question above.

partially true statement, but they get to the polls more consistently so he has less to worry about. Those people take voting seriously, Obama has to do a hell of a lot of leg work to get his consituency out to the polling booth.

taking care of the rich and the coorprations is very imporant to the economy. not taxing the shit out of them like O boy is planning (his plans are a big reason i know he is not asking for any economic help). who do you think creates jobs? who spends money? who really bailed our economy out after 9/11?

why are corporations going abroad? WHO KNOWS!?!?

People are unemployed... let's raise minimum wage and tax more on the people with jobs! especially those responsible for the risk and highly-skilled management of large companies that hire the unskilled people to empty the trash!

A. Dubya's tax breaks and royalty concessions (corporate welfare).

Have you seen the margins on gas? It hasn't gotten better for oil companies. They just are selling a lot more of it. (and vertically integrated to help save $)
