what's the difference between finding out the object of your affection doesn't share your sexual orientation and finding out that same person just isn't attracted to you

you're right, we shouldn't embrace christianity as a nation
too bad thats what this nation and its values were founded on the core teachings of freedom and honesty and that man can govern him self. You think it was Christianity that caused the fall of Rome??? Ummmm Not really

Actually if you'd read your bible you might have caught the idea that this God character believes we can't govern ourselves.
And yes, Christianity was greatly instrumental in what made Rome what it is today. I wouldn't call it a fall so much as a slide, but whatever.
<---------- Does not partake in religion. Atheist for lack of a better term
If you would read the bible and take the stories for what they teach, they fully endorse the fact that man can rule him self and offer you the lessons of life to do so. Its the perversion of gods word by man that you are referencing
And yes the fall of Rome was brought about by its leaders lusting for power and its citizenry becoming complacent, and negligent with its responsibility to keep the leaders in check. (remind you of anything) It was the fall of Rome, that lead to the dark ages and let those still hungry for power to use the fledgling christian religion and perversions of its teachings as a means and justification of control and brutality over the masses

I was saying that the two statements I quoted contradicted themselves
no they didnt, they were in reference to 2 separate aspects of their life style. You need to work on your reading comprehension if it went that far over your head.

Thank you Sleeve.
And I agree with your comment about Rome and it's fall being at least in part homosexuality. Rome slipped into more and more immorality toward the end.

its not so much the homo in my opinion or even the rest of the sexual depravity, more so the blood lust, and the quest for ultimate power and control over the masses, when Augustus consolidated all the power in the emperor, and usurped the senate, (was the beginning of the end) but left the appearance it still had some control (see anything similar happening currently). I dont think the lead pipes for the drinking water for a couple of centuries didnt really help either. It gets much more complicated than this but thats the quick version

Two different aspects of the lifestyles of two different groups: gays in the military and gays outside the military. Using the flamboyant aspect of your first chosen gay stereotype against gays as a whole, and then spinning it the other way to label them a bunch of closeted perverts the next is contradictory. So which is it? Which do you discriminate against? The repressed, latent homosexuals that might eventually turn their frustration into something negative; or the flamboyant, annoying hippie douchebags who ride unicycles with dildos strapped to their foreheads simply to make "the straights" feel uncomfortable?
It's like the people who stop driving e30's because there are a group of people making the "scene" look bad. I'm certainly not going to stop driving my car because I'm annoyed by all the stance/hypesticker kids. Likewise, I'm not going to pigeonhole homosexuals as a group of people, just because some of them feel the need to rub it in the world's collective face.
It's your business if you're going to discriminate, but you need to continue asking yourself why you do it if discrimination is going to serve you well. Mr. "a sucked orange" over there would have us believe that he's some sort of authority on the subject of homosexuality as a phenomenon. I see someone who's amassed a considerable amount of knowledge (or at least wants us to think this is the case) with a singular purpose in mind: to bolster his intolerance with fancy rhetoric.
There are many reasons homosexuality might make someone uncomfortable. You just need to ask yourself why it makes you uncomfortable before you take sides with those who simply make it their business to be intolerant.
Anyway, I will avoid the bible debate (unless people just don't care about this thread). Also, isn't Greece a better example of a world power that buttfucked its way into oblivion than the Roman empire? I would think the homophobic history buffs would make that their whipping boy instead of Rome.
How about you just leave your sexual orientation at home...
Gays have every right to serve in the military...but there are real issues with that. It's just going to cause more problems with the way it is now.

please tell me how the fuck this is a civil rights issue. Gays already have all the same rights as anyone else.
This is about keeping discipline, moral and unit cohesiveness in the fucking military. You give up many rights when you join up gay or otherwise its part of the deal.
