please tell me how the fuck this is a civil rights issue. Gays already have all the same rights as anyone else.

This is about keeping discipline, moral and unit cohesiveness in the fucking military. You give up many rights when you join up gay or otherwise its part of the deal.

The fact that there are people like you who thinks serving openly gay is wrong based on some blanket stereotypes makes this a civil rights issue. Honestly, I respect a lot of your opinions (incuding joshh)but this might be a case where you both need grow up a little.


Giving up your sexual orientation to be in the military is not something you need to give up. Giving up the ability to fuck whom ever you want is.

Gays have every right to serve in the military...but there are real issues with that. It's just going to cause more problems with the way it is now.

If the removal of the DADT policy has any negative effects at all it will be because of people who can't work as a team and probably aren't wanted in the military anyway.

That makes perfect sense...and for the same reason we have men and women shower and sleep in different quarters. Because they can't work together unless they shower and sleep together. try again....

Keeping your controversial sex practices to your self where every one else knowing could effect how your unit could function because someone or everyone is now uncomfortable with you because of that. IS A NO FUCKING BRAINER to me. We are not talking about the shower in your gym, or the company softball team here. We are talking about the life an death. The military is not about whats good for the individual its about whats good for the unit, as a whole, and if that means keeping your homoness to your fucking self thats just something you have to live with. They signed up knowing these were the terms than fucking abide by them like a man and honor your commitments

Now I guess I should make my self clear here, I do agree with you guys it really should be a non issue, but the fact remains it still is a huge issue for a large portion of those that enlist, so there in lies the problem. Remember in Aliens how the locker rooms, etc on the Marine's warship were coed? I believe this is simply an eventuality. Go ahead and giggle, but someday the men and women of the armed forces will laugh at those who find this risque or offensive (most of them probably do anyway)

You know that people can be openly gay and keep their 'homoness' to themselves. To use what was said earlier, I guess certain alpha males are going to have to give up their 'rights' to be bigoted/uncomfortable around gays.

I only have such opposition to what you're mentioning because I have marine friends who have an openly gay guy in their group of friends (also a proud marine) and they have no problem with depending on him with their lives. I know I have the authority to talk about this because indeed they had to recently and if it wasn't for this homo's actions then I wouldn't be able to talk to them anymore.
