Some of the well known civilians (writers, deputies, actors) have been released and have started giving their version of the incidents. It has totally nothing to do with the Israelis'. One of them is famous Swedish writer Henning Mankell, one of today's best selling author (check the "Wallander" serie). He calls for sanctions against Israel, such as has been applied with another Apartheid country two decades ago, namely South Africa.

After getting more of the facts it seems this group was trying to instigate something from Israel. And they got it.

The part that I´m most uncomfortable about is that the incident happened in international waters. If this had happened to a U.S ship it would be called an act of war.

The only other time I can recall a blockade on international waters is during the cuban missile crisis. An act I could fully understand, but to board and kill people from an aid convoy?

The most unsettling part is that it is Israel itself that is going to do the investigation. I´m sure it´s going to be 100% unbiased.

I agree with this post for the most part. I'm not a fan of apologizing for someone's "mistakes." Had he left out the apology part and stuck to the "we're better now" part I wouldn't have had much of a problem with it.

And I hope you're right about backing Israel. Been nice debating with someone who actually has an opinion.

to me part of being a man is being able to say you are sorry and admiting you are wrong, because the victim can not start to trust you unless they know you mean to do better in the future, it is like that with your wife, your girlfriend, your brother and your boss, why not with another country.

Are you so arrogant that you think you have to be right all the time? Arrogance is part of the image problem we have, why not try to humble for once, it that does not work we can go back to bombing people!

If thats what he had done, I would have been fine with it, the whole I am not the last guy thing. But he basicly said he was sorry to be American, he says America is NOT a special place, and that we should all be sorry for what America is. Not just the unilateral actions of one mediocre president

that is not what I am getting out of it at all. I do not have the actual text in front of me but to say that America is not special is to mean that America does not have a special set of rules and the rules of the rest of the world do not apply to us. We are sorry for the wrong that has been done in the past and we recognize it and are working to better our relationships here in the middle east. That is how I interpert it.

I think people that are anti Obama have a way of looking at things and picking apart every word and trying to make it into something bad. I do not see that. I do think the thing Obama could have done to make the middle east really trust him is to continue with war crime investigations on high ranking US officials, even in his own party, Im not just talking about Bush and Chenney but also Pilosi. Even if nothing sticks do an ivestigation and let the world know we are not just sorry, but we will make sure it does not happen again!

Letting the world know that things are different now is a good thing. That is not appologizing for being a super power or saying we are sorry we are better, it is saying "I dont know what that last asshole was thinking when he went to war in the wrong country, I wont make the same mistake."

another thing, people are saying that the US has abandoned Isreal and we are no longer behind them. Bullshit, the USA is 100% behind Isreal, however it still needs to play nice with all the other boys and girls in the sandbox. But rest assured if push comes to shove everyone in the sandbox knows where we will stand.

Brian- Even MSNBC covered the apology tour heavily surely you say 0 in Egypt, Germany UK, and else where saying HOW ARROGANT and Unscrupulous the USA is and that it saddens him that we cant be friends with the Extreme Muslims countries. Just google it, its easier.
