the theory of evolution is just that. It is a theory, at the current time the "big bang" and "evolution" are the two best theories of how we got here and how we came to be.

The difference between believers in creation and believers in the big bang/evolution is this, creationist will always believe in creation, Evolutionist are constantly looking and waiting for someone to "prove" a new theory and teach us more.

We discredit creation not for our hatred of religion, but for the lack of any kind of proof.

ok so where did the chicken come from??

From a hen and a rooster.

Each and every chicken is born different from every other. This is because of genetics. A hen will pass certain traits (maybe short legs, big eyes, etc.) onto the chick and the rooster will pass certain traits (maybe a long beak, colored feathers, etc.) onto the chick. Some of these traits are beneficial for survival while others may hinder survival. For example, a long beak may be beneficial for eating and gathering food while short legs may prevent the chicken from running from predators. This is genetics and it applies to every life form on the planet.

The idea behind evolution is that the fittest creatures, i.e. the ones born with many beneficial traits, survive and pass these traits on to their offspring. The ones with the negative traits do not survive to have offspring and therefore these traits are not passed on. Eventually all the negative traits are weeded out of the gene pool and after a couple hundred thousand or millions of years you get creatures that are far removed from their ancestors. Give it hundreds of millions or billions of years and you get entirely new species, phylums, kingdoms, and so on. It really is an elegant way of explaining the plethora of life we have on this planet.

So, the chicken came from an ever so slightly different chicken and that chicken came from an ever so slightly different chicken and so on until you have an ancestor that was very different from the one you started with.

if you are going to apply the logic of "where did that come from" you have to apply the logic to the creator as well. Where did the creator come from? If you will not accept the answer for one side of the argument you can not accept it from the other side.
