The statutory charges are two accusations of sexual assault in Sweden. They are only "accusations" and conveniently happened after the Iraqi files were distributed. Anybody can press charges. It doesn't mean the charges are true. BTW when was last time that Interpol was involved for two alleged sexual assaults? Looks the same as involving FBI for stealing candy bars. Don't you see how convenient the situation is?
So far, the Wiki dude has done nothing illegal, which is not the case of the several politicians and military in duty who expressed death threats against Assange. Which is illegal - Incitment to commit murder in the case of Tom Flanagan, former Canadian prime minister's former campaign manager.
Such death threats are as stupid as when Salman Rushdi published his novel (The satanic verses) about a decade ago, and that some Mollah declared a fatuah on him because the content of the book displeased them and was an "insult to the Muslim world" ;-).
Wikileak did not steal any document, nor did it hack its way into servers. All that Wikileak does is to publish content that is supplied by independent sources. Just as any news reporter or newspaper does. But, if many international newpapers are allowed to distribution this info, why not Wikileak? BTW Some of the info distributed lately by Wiki has also been available thru several international newspapers. And they didn't get sued...
The current smearing campaign is very interesting and so obvious. ;-) Many countries are indeed extremely pissed that their dirty little secrets have been exposed. These countries claim that their national security is at risk. As far as I understand, it is only at risk because their ambassadors goofed...Last edited by Massive Lee; 12-08-2010, 06:05 AM.Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

WHile I agree these charges seem to be complete BS and as you pointed out, timed very well, I'm not sure I agree with the following.

Basically, the dilemna with Wikileak is extremely simple. It's exactly the same as if your local newspaper discloses some of your bad behavior on its front page, and that it is all true. Do you sue the newspaper for making such info available while at the same time you recognize the info was true? Or do you try to find the mole who gave the info to the newspaper?
BTW Be assured that all countries are hurt in this disclosure of events. Not just the US.Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

So far, the source for the Iraqi files has been found and the military is on trial because he was sworn to secrecy. And failed. Wikileak had no such contract.

I have a hard time believing that anyone, or even a group of people, within a company would have access to the sheer number of documents that are being released.
I do believe that some of the documents are being given to him, but it's also a known fact he has some of the best hackers in the world working for him.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

The Wikileaks editor has warned that neither his detainment, assination, or his website's shutdown can stop the whistle-blowing organization from spilling additional classified information in its possession.
lol I thought he was all for releasing everything. It seems now he's trying to get out of trouble with, do what I say or I do this. Ridiculous.Originally posted by george graves

@ EtaUnderdog
A website can be mirrored a million times. It can change IP as many times as is needed. There is no way to take down any site. Therefore I don't see why some "special revelations" need to be used as a weapon if the site gets taken down.

On the current wave of info, the hacker theory is indeed sustainable. But the hackers might no be from Wikileaks...
" This last week, in a lawsuit over an AIPAC, (Israel’s lobby) employee reputedly fired for being caught spying against the US, news stories across the United States reported that, as part of that $20 million civil case, evidence will be presented that masses of classified material come to AIPAC and Israel continually. Is AIPAC Wikileaks? The only evidence of any massive leak discovered in the Pentagon is AIPAC. Last week’s Washington Post story was buried quicker than a carp in a playground: Jeff Stein, at the Washinton Post, reports the following: Rosen says his actions were common practice at the organization. He said his next move is to show that AIPAC, Washington’s major pro-Israeli lobbying group by far, regularly traffics in sensitive U.S. government information, especially material related to the Middle East. “I will introduce documentary evidence that AIPAC approved of the receipt of classified information,” he said by e-mail. “Most instances of actual receipt are hard to document, because orally received information rarely comes with classified stamps on it nor record’s alerts that the information is classified.”
WIKILEAKS, A TOUCH OF ASSANGE AND THE STENCH OF AIPAC “Recent admissions that the Israeli lobby, AIPAC, routinely receives masses of classified information makes them suspect #1 for being the sourc…
Please read the info above with a grain of salt. It seems to come from a religious site (Christian, not Muslim BTW). Nonetheless it points out to interesting facts. Again, I don't insinuate it is the truth. Just a track to consider.
The AIPAC spy considered as a hero and is sent $670,000 by the J****** community.

The guy seems so smart for an idiot.
What did he expect to happen when he released information about several countries and the confidential (and some immoral) things they do to other countries.
Nothing good can come of this no matter what his intentions are/were. And no matter what people think some countries will always be working against other counties in a two faced fucked up way. Sometimes it's a good thing and needs to happen.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

I don't really understand how the accusations against him can even be considered 'crimes' worthy of extradition. My understanding is that months ago, longs before the leaks were released, he had consensual sex with 2 women. One he met at a party, they had consensual sex, and that was it. Then he met another women a few days later and they had consensual sex as well. The next day she tried to get a hold of him because she thought he should get an STD test (she had an std and didn't tell him?) She couldn't get a hold of him, but somehow was able to locate the previous women and informed her that Assange should be tested. Then they both got together with a lawyer and came up with these 'rape' and 'molestation' charges. The first prosecutor they approached with the charges looked at the evidence and said 'There's no case here, you both had consensual sex. That's not a crime'. They then took it one step further to a head prosecutor, one of the highest in Sweden. She decided that a crime had been committed and issued the arrest warrant...
Obviously from some of the above posts, I'm not the only one who smells something fishy here.
