someone leaked the info to that douchebag, I don't like him because I feel like his leaks put our soldiers into even more danger than they are already in, that is why I hope he gets what he deserves.

I don't really understand how the accusations against him can even be considered 'crimes' worthy of extradition. My understanding is that months ago, longs before the leaks were released, he had consensual sex with 2 women. One he met at a party, they had consensual sex, and that was it. Then he met another women a few days later and they had consensual sex as well. The next day she tried to get a hold of him because she thought he should get an STD test (she had an std and didn't tell him?) She couldn't get a hold of him, but somehow was able to locate the previous women and informed her that Assange should be tested. Then they both got together with a lawyer and came up with these 'rape' and 'molestation' charges. The first prosecutor they approached with the charges looked at the evidence and said 'There's no case here, you both had consensual sex. That's not a crime'. They then took it one step further to a head prosecutor, one of the highest in Sweden. She decided that a crime had been committed and issued the arrest warrant...

Obviously from some of the above posts, I'm not the only one who smells something fishy here.

I also like how its being billed as rape although there are no accusations of rape, just accusations of barebacking it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think anything released in the latest wikileaks documents was even very controversial, or surprising/unknown to people in government.
I recall Hilary Clinton saying, after having "apologized" to some ambasador, that the guy said "You think thats bad, you should see what we say about you."

IMO, They were more of a; "here general public, look at how the world operates. Wake the fuck up. Everybody "talks shit", does back door deals, etc. behind everyone else s back."

Anyway, I didn't post this to argue over the whole wiki-leaks and their being right or wrong, per-say. But I guess its inevitable for that to come into the conversation anyways.



Back on "topic"
As Corvallis stated, the charges are bogus. The initial charges back in August(?) I don't when he was first charged...but they were thrown out of court. Then recently a right, or left wing...just some radical politician in Sweden decided to bring them back up.

Now why would this politician decide to do that?

Please, show me an exemple of what danger the leaks could lead to? Because from your words, I understand you are barely regurgitating what you heard on the radio.

BTW All the info was deemed "secret". Not "top secret". "Secret" being for the type of discussions that officials have between them.

Legally, the dude has done absolutely nothing wrong. Whatever he did (disclose back door information) was also done by five well respected printed medias, and none were sued. The only group or person that is liable would be those who "stole" the info.

Don't forget that the people's representative work for us, and they can't hide their goofy moments. If it causes trouble, they are the ones who are liable.

This is why I just can't take Glenn Beck for anything but a raving mad right-wing bigot. He could have simply stated the facts about the case and what happened, but instead he decides to assassinate the characters of everyone involved. He called the first girl an 'uber liberal academic feminazi'. Seriously? You don't even know the girl's name (it hasn't been released) yet you somehow know her most personal political views and opinions? How could he know anything bout her when he doesn't even know who she is? He then goes on to bash the group that Assange was speaking for, calling it all kinds of terrible things too. Why? What does that have to do with the story or the 'rape' allegations? He says they're a 'Hardcore uber left-wing activist group with anti-semitic ties'. It's just one more shady, back-handed poke in the eye against people he disagrees with politically. He even attacks a bunch of random Swedes in a video, calling them 'Social democrats. Remember, that's what we used to call communists'. First off, it still has nothing to do with the allegations. Secondly it's flat-out wrong. Communists are communists, social democrats are large political parties in many, many industrialized nations and have absolutely nothing in common with communists. But the people who watch Glenn Beck are too braindead to pick up on that, they'll just accept it as fact and go on listening.

This is what pisses me off about Beck. He doesn't report news. He takes otherwise newsworthy and accurate stories and fills them with false allegations and lies and then spews them back out out as "facts".
