you want to know why our infrastructure is going to shit, because we have been pouring a lot of the money into the entitlements since the mid 70's.

Dozzy, you right there is the odd (western)religious kook that bombs a abortion clinic here and there, but those are far fewer and further in between than the lefties. Also nearly all the groups I mentioned above call for this kind of actions to STOP "fill in the blank" or to save the "fill in the blank"

      Were it so simple....

States now give up billions in lost sales tax revenue because of untaxed internet sales that directly take money, and the attendant sales tax revenues out of states. Oh, yeah, we're supposed to pay "Use Tax" but I don't know anyone who actually does this.

The race to the bottom that was the cause of our manufacturing being outsourced also meant far, far less tax revenue collected. And because of the stagnation and actual decline in middle class wages coupled with the fact that the tax code is in need of serious attention means over half the population pays no income tax anymore.

It's easy to point the finger at one thing, which is what politicians love to do (gotta keep the message simple, ya know) but it ain't the real story.

"Calling for" and "engaging in" are two different things. I don't know of many liberal militias training out in the sticks.....but some of those guys look to ready to "engage in" something..... ;-)

Another piece of the "we're broke" puzzle is that because terrorists have, since 9/11 "called for" harm to the US, our kneejerk reaction has been to throw billions and billions at "security" in an altogether ineffective and poorly accounted-for manner.

But they collect BILLIONS as it is dont they??? And many things are taxes 2,3,4 times then sales taxes on top of when we get a chance to buy it. One of the reasons I live where I do, I have no sales tax in my state!!!!!!

Yup thats up to you to pay your taxes on catalog purchases. Yup no one does, and that is nothing more than an example how taxes kill economies now isnt it, people buy on line to save money, and not have to pay the sales taxes. You start to enforce shit like that (state of MI was talking about going after Ebay to collect sales tax, didnt happen). Since you talk about taxes how many times must the money I earn be taxed??? Why does it have to be taxed 3+ times anytime I have anything to do with it.

Lol yeah well there are few instances of the Militias/members Engaging in anything other than just that practice. On the other hand, all the organizations have not only called for but ENGAGED in many acts of violence and destruction over the years. ;)

I was 100% in support of the Republican club at UC Berkeley until I read this:
UPDATE: The Los Angeles Times this morning published a lengthy article on the Senate Bill subject of the College Republicans' protest covered here. That bill - SB 185 - would permit state college and U.C. admissions officers to consider race and gender so long as they do not tip the balance in [...]

"Here’s the heart of SB 185 being challenged by the College Republicans’ bake sale:

'This bill would authorize the University of California and the California State University to consider race, gender, ethnicity, and national origin, along with other relevant factors, in undergraduate and graduate admissions, to the maximum extent permitted by the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution, Section 31 of Article I of the California Constitution, and relevant case law.'

That reference to section 31 of Article I is the successful voter initiative which wrote the following language into the California Constitution:

'The State shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.'

The racist cupcake sale expressly granted preferential treatment to Latinos, women, African Americans, and Asians, among others. SB 185 includes within its terms the stipulation that the University’s consideration of race, sex, national origin, and the like, cannot be used to grant anyone preferential treatment."

Had the actual SB 185 allowed race-based admissions considerations, their argument would have made complete sense. But since their own assertions about the bill are incorrect, it takes away the legitimacy of their argument.

The way I read it, as an equal and not as a victim, is that the maximum extent permitted by Section 31 of article 1 to grant preferential treatment to any group is zero, no matter who you are, and therefore it should not be ok to take race or ethnicity into account. The language here is blatantly contradictory, and it's a shame you don't see that.

Exactly. They're throwing the Constitution in there to make it look sweet. When in reality it's code for...*we get to choose, go fuck off*.

                    ......

....That's the whole reason I posted that article. It's completely contradictory. As in, the bill poses no threat because it's unconstitutional and could never be written in to law. The whole protest is over something that can't ever become law, so it loses it's legitimacy.

                    Get it?

^I missed your last sentence in your previous post. It appears we agree on the wording in the bill, however don't think for a second that something like this "can't ever become law." California is the king of unconstitutional legistlation...

Yes isn't Cali where they let you open carry a piece, but it has to be unloaded while doing so, just to get arount the fedral right to open Carry or something?
also being the only state to set it's own air quality standards...and in doing so imposing it on the world lol.

Cali seems to pass alot of things that if not Unconstitutional (and I am not an expert there by any means) certainly strange, sensless or unusual.

There is actually a bill on our governor's desk as we speak to ban the open carry of handguns altogether. :(
