Those countries are not the same socially as the US is. As soon as they have an an accurate test for those who want to drive while stoned/high, I'm for the most part for it. But I still have a moral issue with it.

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents. Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the [federal] government." ~ James Madison

Come on now. You cannot punish the whole population because of a few idiots.
There is no "accurate test" for people driving completely high on pain killers either, but they get them.
I would rather people be high on the roads than innocent people getting gunned down in raids on the wrong house. Or dogs getting shot over 3.5 grams, while the whole family is terrorized by corporate thugs in uniform. Not to mention the millions of innocent people locked up and taken from their families JUST because they were trying to make a buck off of a HARMLESS plant.
Sorry, I am just very touchy when it comes to the UNCONSTITUTIONAL raping of my fellow humans over victimless "crimes"
Did you know that it is not illegal to be "high"? It is illegal to posses the plant... So right now, It is perfectly legal for me to drive down the road high, as long as I do not have any one me. Not saying I would... That is just how they got around the Constitution in the first place.
"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this."

"It really puzzles me to see marijuana connected with narcotics . . . dope and all that crap. It's a thousand times better than whiskey - it's an assistant - a friend."

Way to throw any reasonable argument you had right out the window when you wrote this sentence. You would be driving while impaired and face similar consequences had you been driving down the road while drunk.
 I am in the same boat. To me I don't see it being different then being drunk, and I think it should be legal, but there should be laws limiting when and were you can do it, such as alcohol. There is so much violence, people in prison, and potential tax dollars made off of it for it to still be illegal.
Tax it like crazy like cigarettes, pardon anyone in jail for weed, and save the country tons of money. Despite being an alcoholic, I say alcohol is far more dangerous. For the record I have never smoked, just been around a lot of potheads, so I don't know the full affects of smoking.

You're absolutely right it is far more dangerous, don't even get me started on cigarettes. It's a shame past governments spent so much time and effort making it seen the product and pass time's of criminals, they've done irreversible damage to the possibility of having the general public accept it as yet another substance which we'll abuse.
