Being a fatty is not your fault anymore the US gov says. It's all because of zoning laws. How do you guys feel about sugar taxes? This is all stuff we can look forward to when obamacare gets fully implemented. Fat people are going to be way to expensive to take care of. If I could only choose 1 thing to blame for the obesity problem in America then I would blame our fast-paced society.

-Unless you do manual labor, we do not get the exercise we need to stay healthy while at work.

-After a 50 hour work week, traveling, cleaning, and taking care of other duties (especially with a family/kids) it is a lot harder to spend the remainder of your freetime getting that exercise that you need.

-Grocery shopping and cooking/preparing healthy meals on a consistent basis cuts into the time that people would rather spend getting the rest they need from a busy day.

-When it isnt convenient to prepare your own food, sensible fast food choices are few and far between.

-The stress that comes from trying to keep up with our fast-paced society can cause serious health problems all in itself.


If you have no idea what I am talking about then you have never owned a home, had kids, paid your own bills, have no concept of retirement, or are a trust fund child in which case I applaud your parents for their good taste in getting you an E30 but regret to inform you that they cheaped out and should have given you an E90 instead.

While I do agree with you, I assure you there are healthy things you can eat at fast food restaurants. You just have to try a little harder. I'm in college right now, the food they provide at our cafeteria is pretty unhealthy but, there are a few bright spots. Even taco bell has decently healthy food if you order off the fresca menu.

Also, it doesn't take that long to run into the grocery store and buy bread, peanut butter, jelly and some fruit and yogurt.

A few years back I realized I was pretty chubby and ate unhealthy. Within 9 months of doing nothing but changing my diet and being more aware of what I was eating I lost 40lbs. I'm 5'8" and was at 205, lowest I got was 162lbs. After going to the gym for a year and putting more muscle on, I sit around 170 most of the time. I decided I didn't want to be out of shape so I did something about it.

My brother is in the same boat, he was like 350 around christmas and just cracked under 300lbs all from simple diet changes. It's not hard!

True, I pretty much limit my fast food to things from Taco Bell that contain chicken, or a sandwich from Subway/ Jimmy Johns with light/no mayo, or an occasional Qdoba burrito if I anticipate skipping dinner. You really have to research and know exactly what you are ordering though. Some of the food out there that seems pretty harmless or not too unhealthy can be surprisingly high in saturated fats and sugars.

So, instead of taking steps to stop and actually fix a growing problem that isn't going away and has become practically an epidemic, you'd prefer to stick your fingers in your ears, stomp your feet like a 10 year old and stick to stupid idealogical viewpoints?

The majority of people are too stupid or apathetic to fix the issue on their own. Hence you have to step in.

i blame high fructose corn syrup. every time that shit is introduced to a developing country, their obesity rates spike. fuck that crap. lack of exercise is another big thing.
