To me the only stats on religions are of a Global scale. Just because America is majority Christian means jack shit on a Global scale, we are a minority in the world as far as population goes.

Either way, Muslim, Jew, Christian, all pray to the same god. Athiests don't believe in anything so why fight about it?
it matters because the US isn't the world, and if US Christians feel repressed, it's funny because they are definitely not a minority here, and even on a globa scale they're still by far the largest religious preference.

      Who's fighting? I'm laughing. :p

Looked like you were defending the joke, which you said was based off of America... Then you go and say that the stats of the world are what matter? You and I appear to be on the same page here, so can we not agree that the joke is baseless and irrelevant?

Dude you are chasing your tail here.

You are fighting, every single argument, and without any ground. You simply argue for the sake of argument, without seeing that someone is agreeing with you.

no, I was saying, no matter if you look at just the USA or the world, christians are still by far the largest religious preference. And the USA matters to us the most, because that's where we live.

so while the "joke" graph wasn't perfectly accurate, it wasn't meant to be, and it's basic principle is true (especially when you consider it's intended target: americans).

I'm not even a little upset. It was just a funny picture, and while not perfectly accurate it held a grain of truth, there's nothing to "fight" about.

also, how did a topic about supression of freedom of speech turn into a debate about religion? Because that's what this is. freedom of speech and the right to demonstrate do not exist in Russia. And just because they knew that, doesn't mean they're dumb for trying to fight for their rights. That's how this country was founded, after all. Would we be calling the founding fathers idiots if they went to jail for standing up to the british?

The joke graph was a crap ton more accurate than the graph he posted. You saw that, right?

Right. Let me know when atheists adopt a policy of torture followed by grisly death for non-atheists as did the Christians and Muslims toward non-believers, aka heretics and apostates. In parts of world, even now, it happens with fatwas issued for drawing a picture of Muhammad and Nigerians burning "witches" in ditches.

...also the rise of religion in Baghdad around 1100AD quashed one of the most intense periods of knowledge growth and intellectualism ever known...ever wonder why they call them "Arabic" numerals? Algebra, algorithms, the star catalog-yes, the most well-known visible stars have Arabic names...then BOOM. Suddenly science and math are satanic and people become scared, and society gets seriously stupid. Funny how this is right about the time the Crusades started as well.....

Then there's Galileo, found guilty by the Inquisition of suspicion of heresy and forced to recant (or be killed).

For hundreds and hundreds of years logic and science have been under attack, yet at every major discovery that contradicted religious dogma, religion had to fall back. Now it explains nothing much about the way the Earth and Cosmos work.

The primary difference between an atheist and a religious person is that were new knowledge to surface that utterly disproved a notion held by an atheist, he/she would take it in stride, because that's how the world works, whereas dogmatic people will do nearly anything to prevent their dearly held beliefs and faith from being dislodged.

One need look no farther than Ken Ham and his Creation Museum for the ultimate embodiment of this mental aberration.

And there should be. Religious delusion has real world consequences such as denying gays the right to marry and denying women the right to decide what to do with their own bodies. Furthermore, the government is VERY SPECIFICALLY non-religious. For politicians, such as those running for President, to openly admit that religion influences their political life, is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

^ And strangely enough, it was Jimmy Carter who was first to be open about his religious beliefs while in office. How the other party ended up taking that idea and going batshit insane with it, I have no idea.
