        I like you.

"Liberty consists of being able to do anything that does not harm others: thus, the exercise of the natural rights of every man or woman has no bounds other than those that guarantee other members of society the enjoyment of these same rights."
The law "must be the same for all, whether it protects or punishes. All citizens, being equal in its eyes, shall be equally eligible to all high offices, public positions and employments, according to their ability, and without other distinction than that of their virtues and talents."
The republican spirit is inculcated not in songs only, for in every part of the ship I find emblems purposely displayed to awaken it. All the orders relating to the discipline of the crew are hung up, and prefaced by the words Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité, ou la Mort, written in capital letters.
        Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, or Death.

        Damn hippies!

hey, you're the one who made the claim. :p

anyway, nice link. I could agree with most of what he said. I also read some interesting stuff on Romney this weekend. I wish he weren't associated with the modern republicans though.

Does this mean you found something to like about Romney?

P.S. Sorry to continue the sidetrack, Jean.

there are many social issues I don't like but I think he has good work ethic and leadership skills. I think people might actually like him more, rather than less, if he would release details of his past rather than holding back.

but the social issues may be mostly related to his party of choice.. it depends on if he falls in line with the evangelical extreme or if he goes on his own principles. being a mormon there's a chance he may do the latter.

                I don't like his running mate, though. it's a tough sell. :p

Lol. That's how I felt about Obama in 2008. I'm not currently impressed with O's leadership.

Back to waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles Riot discussion? A quote from a blog (not necessarily frankenbeemer's opinion):

One could argue that effectively, there was no other way for them to so cogently and succinctly illustrate that point, and see to it that the message was heard in today’s media saturated environment.
For that disrespect (I cannot bring myself to call it a crime), these women have been sentenced to TWO years imprisonment. Two of them are mothers of young children—all of them bold women, speaking up against the powerful, patriarchal constructs that have been established for millennia. Making their political views heard. Sixty seconds of disrespect that yielded almost three THOUSAND pages of indictment.

They hurt no one, they defaced nothing. They were removed from the cathedral in less than 60 seconds. At no time was any attendee of the church injured, nothing was damaged. These women expressed themselves using the tools they were given, depending upon your beliefs, either by the grace of a higher being, or a fortuitous combination of DNA and evolution.

And now they are incarcerated simply for speaking their minds.

if he ran as a libertarian I'd vote for him in a heartbeat

it's the anti gay / anti choice / anti science/environemnt / anti minority ethic of the extreme right that rubs me raw. Maybe not neccesarily his choices or opinions but the party he runs with definitely holds some way over his choices.

as far as the quote/thread topic, that's pretty much what I'm seeing. supression of free expression. russia may actually be scarier now than it was in the 1980s and 1990s..
