So.. If Obama wins, does the hate machine shut down?

The level of contempt and hate for this guy has been stunning. Fox news in particular has just been non-stop for the last 4.5 years, along with every republican in the senate. Blocking everything, stalling financial bills to the extent that credit gets downgraded, every trick in the book to try and make him look bad. And to some extent it's worked.. most of the people out there actually believe Obama signed the first round of bailouts, etc.
Really it's embarrassing the lengths they will go to just to try and get him out of office.. the amount of collateral damage we've already endured is more than any other term in my lifetime. And it's ridiculous. The shit dems have handed over trying to get shit to fly would have been a wet dream to republicans 30 years ago.

So lets just say that Obama wins, which shouldn't be hard because Romney is such a tool that the only votes he still has are from people who think failure to pass an abortion bill is "war on religion". There is no longer this huge political agenda to ruin him for the next election, it's a moot point. Will congress and senate actually chill the fuck out and get shit done??

Well. I could see that too. It's practically just the way they do business with eachother at this point. But I hope not. They've practically said it bluntly that the primary goal is to oust Obama. Without that goal anymore, maybe??

I guess I could ask the same if Romney wins, but then there would be a chance of the dems turning around and being dicks right back at them. The most neutral outcome is if Obama wins.

I can see that most of this forum has a liberal point of view. But I will say this. I would not call it a hate thing. It is more like you disagree with how he is running the country (I am one of those people that disagree but i hope you dont jump my case for being a luned hate monger) and his policies. I personally think that there is a lot he could and can do different to make this country better.

But I do think that it is up to the people to make a way for themselves and not for the goverment to do it for them. I mean there will be cases when that is needed. But on a whole i think that this county is baby sat way too much and now we are becoming lazy. And also there is a the debt that we have. I could care less to argue to "facts" about who caused it. But i do know that he has not done much to slow it down that is for sure. And that worries me personally.

              Of course it won't stop.

I don't think Romney will win and I can only hope the GOP will implode after the election, take some time to divorce themselves from the crazy religious nutjobs and maybe make themselves a bit more relevant.

I would only hope that you know the same can be said for both sides...

I am curious. But what do you you meaning people who vote for obama, think about obama's policies on other countries and how he has handled the middle east?

Also why does religion matter... last time I checked most modest christians just want to better themselves and help others....

                And also his spending problem?

I would hope that you can just answer the questions in a non argumentative way. That is how we make progress.

^Because of the social policy implications of what the far right ask for, that's why it's a big deal.

You guys may have forgotten how much George Bush was hated. People hated him so much that they voted for an inexperienced guy in there right now. Of course if Bush had been mixed they would've been yelling racist.
Of course if you dont support Obama today, is because you hate him; give me a break pls. btw I supported him in 08

A few decades ago there were conservative Dems and liberal (or at least moderate) Republicans. That was how compromises happened. Both parties, but especially the Republicans have become much more "pure" and compromise has become antithetical to Republicans and Democrats have finally wised up and are learning how to play hardball too. So I see a lot of fight to the death politics for a long time. Winston Churchill wrote that "Politics is the art of the possible" but one is interested and, frankly, neither am I.

The GOP (dems too, on different issues or reasons) is more than happy to behavior-related laws to appease special interests "moral" whims.
