On my local ballot there was a section for people who were running for the water project. None of them ever came to my house to ask me for my vote so i put Homer Simpson in the blank area under the names.

Agreed. Ignorance is a motivating factor for me, also. If I had the desire to take the time to know the difference between the two, I would probably also have the desire to vote. As I see it, I would have to wade through mountains of BS to figure out which one is the slightly lesser of the two evils. I don't feel comfortable casting a vote based on other people's opinions; I want my OWN opinions, not my parent's or friend's or g/f's....I did the latter in '08.
Honestly, I kind of wish I did care enough to pay real attention, enough attention to make an actual informed decision. Maybe that's something that comes with age.
My g/f is a huge libertarian, and currently at some bar with coworkers watching the election results (probably drinking and complaining too, lol) while I sit here alone, on r3v, and brood. Sigh. :(Comment

i vote and did my research on all of the people before hand. they both suck in my opinion but id rather vote for the lesser of the two since the person i really wanna vote for wont win. theyre all running the country into the ground and slowly stripping down the constitution and the people are letting them by being sheep to the media.
\/\/\/\/\/\/ i posted this on facebook the other day\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
So I went to vote yesterday and they were handing "cheat sheets" out to people pretty much telling them who to vote for; be it republican or democratically biased I'm sure there are more locations doing this here and around the country.
We should be encouraging people to do their own research and think for themselves. Stop relying on commercials from both sides that do nothing but tell lies and point the blame at the other. Stop being sheep and pay attention and learn what is going on instead of complaining so that we as people of this country can make a change. It's this kind of thinking that contributes to the ignorance and other problems of our country.
I don't care who the president is. He can't single handedly turn this country around. "Of the people, by the people, for the people".
(Rant over)DENY IGNORANCE!

I hate the commercials most of all. Do people really make their decisions based on a 30 second commercial that makes vauge generalized accusations of the other party? Because if they do, that's really sad.
also, some of them were really offensive, especially the ones against gay marriage here in WA. if they had a point that would have been fine, but they were just stupid.
some of them were so vauge I'm not even sure who they were for or against. Something about career politicians behind doors smoking cigars. huh? who am I supposed to hate now?Comment

I hate the yard signs. Do people really go vote based on how many signs they saw for a particular candidate?
I may try that one year.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

You should start a meaningless campaign for yourself. Signs with you holding a dog, feeding a homeless dude, banging your gf. Just so people get the idea of what your aboutsigpicComment

Slammin 2016.
I don't get into them, or sticker for that matter, due to the rampant vandalism that accompanies them. Cars getting keyed, lawns torn up, etc.
The wire frames the signs are on make great paper target holders for when I go to the range though. FYI.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

I believe the opposite. If you vote, you can complain because you actually tried to do something about what you are complaining about.
But if you don't vote, you can't complain because you didn't do ANYTHING to try to change what you want to complain about.
I tell my boyfriend this all the time about general day-to-day stuff. You can't complain if you aren't going to do anything about it.
Say I don't agree with any of the three candidates that were on my ballot, and I don't think any of them are qualified for the job. So I have to vote for one of three people that I dislike, and according to you, I should pick the lesser of the three evils.
And this now gives me the right to complain? I'd be complaining about the person I voted for. That doesn't make sense, does it? If I don't vote for one of the three retards, I'm not allowed to complain. But if I do vote for one of the three retards, I'm allowed to complain about the retard that I voted for? Because that's what I'd be doing. I'd say, "Why is this asshole in office, I don't want him there", even though I voted for him.
See how that makes no sense?
Personally, I was going to vote for Gary Johnson, since Ron Paul didn't make it on the ballot (the only person that I feel is qualified). I didn't vote because I ended up working unexpected OT yesterday and didn't get home until after the poles closed. I'm not going to complain either way though, because I have nothing I feel the need to complain about regarding the president. All of the problems that people always blame on the president, are mostly problems caused by the general population, who are just looking to point fingers.Comment

Yes, I believe so, but I chose to stay. I didn't vote, and if I did, it would have been for Gary Johnson. But he is still not the person I want in office, so even if he won, I'd still complain. That's my point.Comment

That's something I agree with heavily. All the attack bullshit is sickening. I want to know what *you're* going to do.Not caring is a HUGE part of it. I voted this year as several things were on there that I had opinions on.
However voting for people, meh, everybody pisses me off. Obama is a liar, Romney is a used car salesman, even around here locally (WA) the amount of political mail I received that bashed the other guy/gal was staggering.
I made a mission this year to vote for people who didn't bombard me with stupid political mail, didn't run 10,000 commercials, and didn't take over the radio saying SHE SUPPORTS CHILD RAPE, OR HE SUPPORTS HIGHER Taxes.
Lot of my friends hate this view, many of them are very political, but you know what? its my god damn vote and that is what I did. I don't believe in throwing other people under the bus to win, and every fucking politician does this.
