Sooo..a few years ago people were all gunho about invading Iraq, what was the reason again..oh yeah.."suspicion" of weapons of mass destruction. But now in this case where there is clear proof as with some of countries in africa where there are serious atrocities being committed against its people no one wants to get involved. Oh just let them deal with it themselves.

I understand that most agree that invading Iraq/Afghanistan was the stupidest thing every and the country paid and is still paying the hefty cost of that war but i just find it kind of backwards to start a 10 yr multi-trillion dollar war and bitch about stepping into Syria.

Can't play world police when you feel like it.

        Sorry for the rant..

Shouldn't have then, shouldn't be now.

It just boggles me that the people running this show can't just keep out of shit like this. Again, the Middle East has been, is, and will always be tribal. There are so many sects unwillingly lumped into imaginary lines in the sand. They will fight. Let them duke it out. We have no interest in their affairs until one of them makes a direct strike on American soil or against American citizens. None of this, "well, uh, this could be a direct threat to....yadda yadda" stretching the limits of the law. GTFO.

yup...if anything it's the United Nations job to police the world not the US alone.

You seriously think Assad would do the ONE THING that would get the US involved?

I'd be much more likely to believe it was a false flag by the rebels to get the US involved in the conflict.

                      BOOM.

Did they ever even confirm which side used the chemical weapons, like, without a doubt?

Just like they had intelligence that Saddam had WMD's, etc.

Assad is the one who invited in the UN inspectors, why would he then sick snipers on them and use chemical weapons?

                            It seems incredibly suspect.

Well, he is a murderous asshole so logic is off the table.

I fully believe he did it, however I don't support our use of military force in this case.

Regardless of whether or not you think Assad was responsible for the chemical attacks (I think he was), the question remains: what would anyone gain if the US were to bomb Syria? Clearly, the answer is "nothing."

No benefit to the people of Syria. Very damaging to the USA. You'll end up with a power vacuum that's going to be filled with Islamic radicals. Sectarian violence will escalate. The attention will be taken off Assad and focused onto us. It makes zero sense.
