^Yes, I'm not arguing the access to top level stuff, but what if you don't want to have logs of the flights you flew in the company sim?Comment

So, opinions on the practice runways in the Capt.'s sim?
Also, if it were a tire fire, the TPIS (tire pressure monitoring) would have alerted on EICAS, and you tell me you don't feel a flat tire, they would have aborted, or turned back around and emergency landed if they had a underinflated tire.
That said, a tire going flat is not an item I'd abort for. A rejected takeoff usually ends in tears, depending on what speed the abort is initiated at. Above 80 knots, it's considered a high-risk maneuver. The following are the takeoff abort items on a Dash. You'll notice that most of them have to do with power delivery.
-Takeoff warning horn. (Indicates a trim or flap issue usually. Some sort of configuration problem.)
- Failure of Auto-Feather to arm.
- Engine failure or fire.
- Master Warning.
- Takeoff torque not obtained on either engine.
- Exceeding engine limitations.
- Windshear encounter.
- Lost of HUD symbology under low visibility conditions.
Any other problem, and you're going flying. The rule of thumb here is this.... if it's something that will compromise the airplane's ability to fly, then you abort. If it's anything else, you don't,
Once you're airborne, there's no real reason to turn around and land immediately due to a tire issue. Airplane tires catching fire due to anything other than a rejected takeoff would be almost impossible. Also, if you landed right away, you'd still be pretty heavy. You'd be much better off flying to your destination and burning most of your fuel before landing.Comment

If there was a fire, and they had time to make a turn toward Lankawi, then how didn't he get out an SOS?-Christian

Having been in the sim, I can tell you that all kinds of ridiculous scenarios are frequently attempted. There's nothing he could really do in the sim that would raise any eyebrows.Comment

China announces it would begin searching in the northern corridor through which the missing Boeing 777 could have flown.
Now, this is telling. Why would China do this if their, and all the other neighboring countries radar systems actually worked. We know India has said they were not running their systems in the Indian Ocean because it was "Too expensive."
I am still on my same thought process, they got through very spotty radar coverage, ended up where I said on a desolate highway, PAX were offloaded and trucked to Xinjiang by the Uyghur's. The Chinese can't accept their own 9/11, so they have covered and kept their mouths shut.Comment

Why would China's military radar not pick up a plane that size? Their radar defenses must REALLY suck if they didn't catch a 777 inbound...-Christian

^How much stuff do you buy from Wal-Mart?
And, a found WTF?!?!? Theory, just for a laugh....
Someone suggested the possibility of the crew/passengers being exposed to toxic fumes. At some point we were told that a large shipment of mangosteens was on board. Is it possible that the fruit was over ripe/rotting and fermented? Could fumes from fermenting fruit have gotten into the cabin air supply and slowly intoxicated the crew, causing stranger and stranger actions?Comment

you must be scraping the barrel for source material lol
Rumours & News - Reporting Points that may affect our jobs or lives as professional pilots. Also, items that may be of interest to professional pilots.
apparently almost all of the world's mangosteens are from thailand, so there goes that idea, but its not like they are particularly smelly fruit like goddamned durian isComment
-
Drivers/racers do it, why not pilots? I love driving/racing, but doing it for real gets expensive, and it's better (read: cheaper, safer) to push the limits of physics and/or realism in the simulator.Comment
-
Brave, Problem is they are not ripe yet, Mangosteens are not in season yet, so either they were moving lots of canned mangosteens, or it could be a cover for other cargo.
Fishy.
Oh and...
Too soon?

I was thinking about the Chinese employees from the Texas company on the flight, so I went and looked into that...
Freescale Semiconductor.
A patent filed by Freescale Semiconductor was filed in the names of 5 individuals, four of them were on the flight, the other was Freescale Semiconductor itself.
Anybody here well versed in patent law and what happens to portions not willed when a patent holder dies?Comment
-
So now the owner/s of Freescale Semiconductor devised the most elaborate scheme to hijack an international airliner on the other side of the world, for a patent?
Wouldn't have been easier to have them buried somewhere in the middle of Nevada?Last edited by z31maniac; 03-18-2014, 01:37 PM.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

Pretty much every airline pilot I know still loves airplanes, but they want nothing to do with simulating their job when they're not at work.Comment
