"A trade war is easy to win" bragged a defiant Trump a couple of months ago. Definitely displaying he had (again) no idea what he was talking about. So here's the first American casualty : Harley-Davidson may very well move some of its production to Europe. What a symbolic move. Perhaps the most iconic American product now being manufactured in a foreign country because 45 wanted to make "Murica great again"... What's next? Florida orange juice made in Morocco? Jack Daniels bourbon distilled in Ireland?

Uh, this isn't a new tactic for them. They have been talking about it since April of 2017. Also,

Harley opened a plant in India in 2011. It also assembles motorcycles at a plant in Brazil.

More Derp from you, it seems a UK based out fit is wanting to avoid the 25% tariffs on Steel so they are reopening a shuttered mill in SC this week, and pledging 5b in investment in the Steel and AL sector in the US/Canada over the next couple years..... Harley making products in a different countries is nothing new its been happening for at least a decade that I can think of, this is not a Donald revelation....

The UK-based Liberty House, which is in the race to acquire a host of stressed assets in India, has agreed to invest $5 billion in the US, while reviving a steel mill acquired from ArcelorMittal at South Carolina in the US.

Last December, the British company Liberty House Group-owned Liberty Steel completed the purchase of the Georgetown steel mill from ArcelorMittal for an undisclosed amount.

Liberty Steel Georgetown, which was shut in 2015, was brought back to life on Monday.

Revansidha ‘Rohit’ Gulve, former General Manager of Gerdau Steel, Texas, was appointed as the new General Manager of Georgetown mill.

Sanjeev Gupta, Group Executive Chairman, Liberty House, said the recommissioning of Georgetown’s furnace and wire rod mills will be the first in a series of GFG Alliance (the Group's holding company) projects planned with an investment of $5 billion across the US and Canada over the next few years.

Of this, he said $1 billion is expected to be invested in this year to acquire and develop steel, aluminium, engineering, mining, energy generation and financial services assets.

The Group is also establishing a New York regional head office as a hub for its global business, he said at a ceremony to reignite the first of Liberty Steel’s furnaces in the US on Monday.

It marked the first step for Liberty to restore full production to 7.50 lakh tonnes a year.

The restart of the plant will put back about 125 former steel workers immediately to work and generate about 320 direct jobs in the medium term as output of wire rod products used in the automotive and construction sectors ramped up, said the company.

He said Liberty Steel is committed to low-carbon production methods which include recycling the country’s scrap metal using renewable energy to power the Group’s furnaces and mills.

In May, GFG Alliance acquired Export Metals, a Florida-based scrap business and renamed it to Liberty Recycling.

The acquisition include a recycling unit and a deep sea port. It was first part of what will be an extensive network of scrap collection and processing facilities designed to support Liberty’s planned steel manufacturing operations in the US, it said.

Last week, Gupta held an inauguration event for a scrap collection and processing business Liberty Recycling which it had acquired in Tampa, Florida.

Funny but not. I, like many of us have had DL's for decades. My neighbor was rejected on a flight because he is 65 and couldn't locate his BC to renew his DL under the new "homeland security". WTF gov't! A dude has a DL for 50yrs and now because homeland "security" says you might be a terrorist, you have to contact vital statistics and find a BC from 1955 in paper form? What a joke.

Sure, I can understand if a joker comes in and requests a vital statistics form with no background, but cummon, not the guy that has renewed his DL online for so long, he looks like "Chester the Molester" with his 1970's porn-stash pic, all the while standing next to his 40yr old son who is balder than the POTUS.
