... Why cant we be ok with women's right to choose and be fiscally conservative (although Republicans blew that one up with the BS tax plan).
I am largely of the same mindset, except I never identified as Rep or Dem.

Trump is no alt-right looney. Yes, he's a certifiable nut case, which hurts him popularity wise, but his governing IMHO is spot on for the most part. I agree with what he's done so far as I am a conservative (never have been a republican).
But the left have lurched farther and farther to the left, and one obvious example is Bernie Sanders, who is a walking contradiction as someone who makes about $1MM a year yet espouses socialism LOL. The young lady from New York is another. If this is where the dems are headed they will be in the minority for a long time.
BTW Bernie doesn't make a $1m a year, not that he is poor, his AGI is around $200k. He had a great year in 2016 due to his run for President and his book royalties which pushed him up so high. Still doing well, but nowhere near the rest of Congress, in fact pretty far behind even the most junior of them.
I also agree with you on the some of the Dems going to far left, its not going to help them, being behind Abolishing ICE is just something most of the US doesnt want.
I was a Republican for quite some time, I am way more a centrist now, politics lately has catered too far both right and left to the extreme.

Originally posted by mbonder View PostI agree with some of this, however, I think the key phrase is "recognized by half the country". If this is in fact the reality I'd say that the Dems aren't in such bad shape as you claim them to be, all you need is the "right" 50% of the populous to vote for you and you've won (as in the correct electoral districts if we are talking the presidency, hell you don't even have to have 50% of the actual population).
In a way that shows how divisive politics has become, but in another it actually shows that neither party is really doing anything phenomenally different and better than the other. If they were, you'd have a much greater imbalance.

Think about it for a second before hitting send. Your party is self destructing Parker. Pelosi, Waters, Schumer, "bite me" Biden, Clinton and others are recognized by half the country as an example of all that's wrong in DC. In your fervor to undue the election of Trump, you're giving rise to movements like "walk away" and celebs like Kayne West openly advocating abandoning the democrats. Lots of people are tired of the democrat playbook of identity politics and are willing to look the other way when Trump says something stupid, which he often does, because he is undoing years of liberal policies.

After this performance I think I was wrong. He is a marionette.

Pelosi as speaker is a 24 hour/7 day a week walking talking advertisement for Trump.
And mad Maxine and her kind will push for impeachment with zero chance of succeeding, alienating whatever support among moderates and independents the left still have.
Hey, but at least we, as a country, will have a choice to vote on again, Trump or the loony left
