I don't have a passenger seat and don't feel like installing a race seat/harness/etc... to match the drivers side (I'm assuming CCA rules require that).
Justin, we'll be running novice, intermediate and advanced run groups. most advanced students are solo signed off but we do require an instructor to be in the car for at least the first session. we don't do open track or time trials as part of DEs. The next step up from DE is Club Racing. I wish we did do TT because I think that's a gateway drug into CR haha :)

For a few hundred bucks, you can pick up a decent seat and probably find someone who has a set of harnesses that have just expired for racing use. Drop those in the car for events where you can get an instructor. Take them out when you have TT if you want.

Even if you are waaaay fast, you probably would benefit from having an instructor in the car for at least some of your sessions. Last weekend, I spent all of the invite only day, Friday, turning laps without an instructor for most of the day. Saturday and Sunday for the main School event, I had an instructor in the car for most of my A Group sessions, and some of the time when I went out in the Instructor/Open Passing Group sessions. It helped. A lot.

Mind you, I had quite a few things to address, but without that guy in the right hand seat in (and maybe more importantly, after) the sessions, I'd have turned laps Sunday afternoon just as slow as the ones on Friday morning.

Alright, thanks. I guess I'll probably just do the NASA event at NJ and go for my TT license there and start running with them. I spoke with the regional TT director, he said they'd set up a lead-follow for me to get signed off, since I've already had a TT license with EMRA for 2 years.

I have a spare harness, I just don't want to buy a seat and mounts etc... A few hundred bucks is a few hundred bucks! I know I could benefit from good instruction. Hell, even club racers can. I'm just trying to get some cheap seat time before the season is over I only got 2 events in this year, I'm getting depressed!

The NCCBMWCCA will let you do one day only which is typically half the fee. I have tried to do several NCC events (though none this year), but they have a rather unusual registration system where you mail your registrations in, but not too early or too late.

You have plenty of choices though. Depending on which group you run with you might get 5 sessions a day. If you just want skidpad time, there are drift days using the tripple skid pad at summit for a fee of 75 bucks for all you can drift. Check out slideways online for info.

Maybe I'll come by: I just e-mailed Blake Smith to see if they need any more instructors. Hopefully, my E30 will be back in business in time for the weekend.

Can't wait to hit the track again!

We're going to get a single king room at the Quality Inn and Suites. Hopefully there's a jacuzzi so we can unwind after a long and sweaty day at the TRACK.
