Very similar to the Hawk Blues IMO.
Don't sound too bad on the street to/from the track.
      Thanks guys!

Bumping this up, does anyone have any experience with Pagid? I was advised at the track this weekend to look into Pagid Yellows. Guy said he'd tried the Hawk offerings, as well as Performance Friction, and suggest Pagid over all of em.

PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

On what basis? There is no "best", they all have there pros and cons.

For $280 for just a front set of Pagid Yellow (both the 19's and the 29's), I'll just stick with Hawk or PFC :)

Where are you seeing em for $280? Turner has front set for $230... Not like it matters... Lee, I might PM you here shortly...

Hawk's HT10 are about $125 for a thick set. Performance Friction PF01 are $175. So, maybe Pagid appeals to our European friends, but here, they stand no chance against Hawk, PF or Carbotech pads.

yeah, shit, you can replace 2 sets of hawks for one set of Pagids. that's a no-brainer.

Fair enough, I just thought I'd mention Pagid because I know one local runs the Pagid Oranges on his e36 M3 and likes em, and a few people at the track suggested them over PFC and Hawk

My bad, I saw $230 plus add $50 at Turner... And the simple math confused me.

Either way, as others have said, they are double the price of Hawk HT-10's and PFC-01 / 06. Maybe if they last twice as long and perform equally well, they'd be worth it, but I somehow doubt that.

It's one thing to make a recommendation to someone, but to make it with no reasoning is strange. For instance, I chose Hawk HT-10's over Hawk Blues because the Blues have very corrosive pad material. And HT-10's have slightly better modulation, higher temp range, and pad life. I choose Hawk HPS for my street car over Autozone cheapy pads because of pad life, stopping power, fade resistance and modulation, and the trade off was the price.

It's important to know WHY we are recommending certain pads. And things such as car weight, tire type, driving style, etc... can heavily influence what pad will work best for you. Hawk HP+ would be perfect for a beginner driving an m10 318i with street tires, where a pro in a gutted 325is on r-comps and good suspension would overheat them in 5 laps.

Bimmerworld has the PFC01's in front e30 fitment for $120, and Hawk HT-10's for $110. Hard to justify $230!

Speaking of which, has anyone tried Carbone Lorraine pads on an e30? $300-$400 for fronts. But if they do what they say they do, it may be worth it. I just have a hard time believing it.

Brake pads produced outside of the European Economic Community are heavily taxed when sold in Europe. Buying "local" products makes more sense for them, and therefore they are not as exposed to superb products from Hawk, Carbotech, Performance Friction (actually, we are blessed). Which is why everyone over there is raving about the "all mighty" Ferrodo and Pagid pads... Yurk. It's more about economics than technical superiority. I even have customers in Belgium (rallye people) tell me that the HT10 I supplied had way too much bite compared to what they are used to (Ferrodo 3000)...

One other reason for certain North American retailers to blindly suggest Pagid might be related to their profit margin. At double the price for Pagid pads in an exclusive market, they probably make way more $ than selling American-made products in a market where everyone undercuts the others.

                          Just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure if the simple math thing was sarcasm or what? I was looking at Turner and saw $50 for fronts, dunno if you happened to have $50 of other stuff in your cart or if I'm missing something when dealing with Turner...
But I also said it doesn't really matter if it's $230 or $280 cause either way, it is WAY expensive for front pads... The main reason for suggesting them, he said, was for their consistency. He mentioned them having a decent temp range, as well as a "friction coefficient" that had the pad reach a certain point in bite after warming up, and then maintaining that for the rest of the session instead of possibly fading, failing, or anything else... Now, keep in mind I'm not savvy when it comes to brake tech talk, and I was just blindly asking R3v their opinion on a pad that was suggested to me. He mentioned trying the Hawk offerings, and PFC, and liking Pagid over all of them.

Currently I have HP+ all the way around on my stock m20/street tires setup. I plan to run Intermediate HPDE group. Are the HP+ okay for this scenario?

I am also considering switching to ht-10s in the fronts, leaving the HP+ in the rears once I got faster. Does this setup sound decent?

                              Thanks.
