have they been tracked though? I thought the same thing with my HT-10s, I threw them on and drove to the track. They seemed good. But then came the drive back home.. it was unbearable, and I can tolerate squealing brakes OK if it means they're working well.

I wonder if they'd stay "normal" if you never tracked them?

They have about twelve 20 minute sessions on them.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

maybe I was harder on them or something. I had them on for a week after the track day, my wife wouldn't even get into the car again until I changed them back.

Don't worry. I am known in the NorthEast as the mad M3 driver with a vengeance.

My e30 M3 runs ahead of the Porsche GT3s, prepped e46 M3s and other Subies. I very rarely give point-bys. Perhaps some of the Radicals, sometimes. So, don't worry. I drive very hard. And so do the brakes. Their natural colour is blue. If they don't turn to blue, it's because it's raining. Maybe the absence of squealing has to do with the calipers I use, and how the pads are held.

I was able to overheat a set of HP+ in one lap around RA. Quite possibly the worst "track" pad of all time.
I run PFC 06's now, I am able to get 7 weekends out of them. Change the brake fluid after every event, and the brakes are still feeling great. Not quite the same power as an HT-10 or PFC01, but the longer wear is a compromise I am willing to make.

HT-10 dust is not corrosive like the Hawk Blues. And they are not good when cold.

And yeah, HP+ suck it as a track pad. May work your first event or two, but I was fading them on street tires.

My next set I buy will be PFCs - I keep hearing good reviews.

Bringing this one back from the dead.

I'm shopping around for a set of brake pads for track use (HPDE, autox and driver clinic's). I was thinking about PFC 97 compound up front and running Porterfield R-4 compounds in the rear.

A few recommend running the PFC 01 pad in the back but I'm not sure how that setup will work with the 280mm Massive kit up front. The 97 looks like an ideal pad up front because its got great pad life and pretty good bite.

Would a set of 06's in the back be a better choice?

I'd suggest that you try a set of PFC 06 (or 01) pads all around. The 06 compound will yeld longer life and the 01 compount a bit more bite, but (in my experience) neither is too noisy for the street.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I tried the Wilwood B compounds and they worked great (280mm kit), they were $90 shipped compared to the H compounds that were $140. They even work 10x better for the street than these BP-20's. In the rear Im running HPS which should be upgraded to HT-10's by the next event.

Sounds good, I'm going to see if PFC makes a pad for the wilwood fitment. Otherwise I'm going to have to get them machined again :(

I'm looking for a dedicated track pad and I will likely purchase a set of street pads to keep noise levels to a minimum. HT-10's are really really nice! I have them now :)

Will a pair of HP+ pads work for the rear calipers at the track? I've matched them up with DTC 30s in the front (running UUC big brake kit).

I would want to run an equal grade compound. unless the track you're on is easy on brakes, you're going to regret using such a different type of compound on the rear.

FWIW, I have DTC 30s at the front (UUC BBK) and HPS at the back. I haven't tracked the car with this setup, but on the street it works well.

no way you'd want to track it like that - HPS suck balls on the street, they're even worse on the track. :(

your front brakes are likely doing 99% of the work..

My bad. I have HP+ at the back, not HPS (I just checked the invoice from when I bought the rear pads).
