^Or Vorshlag, that's where both of my sets came from. BUt I'm pretty sure they are both selling the same thing.

This is exactly the info I was looking for. Here's my question that would pretty much seal the deal for my buying a set this weekend. I have an issue with my front wheels b/c I have an 8mm spacer and they don't sit on the hub. Would having studs installed help with aligning the rim properly to avoid this vibration I feel after 64 mph?

PS the wheels have been balanced, have refreshed front suspension done, thanks to blunt's kit.

I haven’t broken any IE’s that’s for sure. I’m talking 2.5 years of drifting and DE's behind an s52, and the previous car (same car but 4lug and m20) 1.5years. I’m actually still using most of those and seriously doubt even IE has bolted and unbolted any single stud as much as I have. How'd they break? threads or sheared

Actually I had a set fail before I got these wheels. I had those probably 5-6 years ago. I replaced them with the same cheap ones that failed in a different way. The wheels had nothing to do with it - the newer ARP ones will definitely not break, ever. I think I was using euroweaves at the time.

they didn't quite sheer off but when I went to torque them they went past their yeild point. I knew something wasn't right when I came down from 100mph and I had a strange vibration in the steering. I limped it back to the paddock and discovered 2 of them had failed. a 3rd was on the edge. They can't handle the heat and stress of track driving, Vorshlag even told me that when I called them about the broken studs. They also no longer sell that style, I wonder why...

as far as my wheels being non hubcentric - whatever. if you want to use cheap garbage parts on your car, go ahead. it's not my car or my life. Spending $75 or whatever it was on something quality isn't going to break the bank.

can you imagine what would happen if the wheel came off when I was braking from 100-30? is that worth saving $50?

Okay, sounds promising. I have 15x7 bbs basketweaves.

can anyone answer this question? very interested in this mod, but i'd like to be able to continue using the oe caps. my question is with regard to the 75mm studs, specifically (not the 90mm).

I don't think caps will fit on studs longer than 60mm

that's good to know, i just found out my second set of wheels are non hubcentric.

I love my wheel studs. I bought the 90mm Vorshlag studs so I can fit some 20mm spacers and they're great. It makes taking wheels on and off so much easier. And I would definitely shell out the extra cash for the Vorshlag/Bimmerworld/turner ones or some press-in studs. So much better quality than IE.

there is a wheel mounting pin in your trunk.

Wait... what? Info on trunk thing, or whatever you guys are talking about

And when I buy my studs, I'm probably going with Bimmerworld's kit, and I'll call to place my order and ask them flat out if they're rated for track... Are they most likely going to say yes? Yes. Is it piece of mind / a bit of a guarantee if I call and ask in person? Yes.

In the trunk tool kit there is a long-ish metal dowel with a plastic end, I believe its the far right tool in the kit.

Put the plastic end in a lug hole, use it to guide your wheel on.

It can also be used as a flywheel lock on an M42.
