stock fuel tank capacity per side?

Hey I was hoping somebody involved in track cars may have the answer I'm looking for. I need to figure out the capacity of the pre-88 fuel tank from the left side to the right side. Mainly if the left side of the tank was removed would there be a large amount of capacity lost? If so would be modifying a post-88 tank give a greater capacity in just the right side of the tank. Thanks

But if you add a smuggler's compartment behind the driver's seat by cutting and welding the gas tank in half, you can put your weed in there.

I know its not a seperate tank. I was just wondering if someone had ever heard of or measured the capacity of the right hump of the tank to the left hump of the tank.

the whole tank holds 15 gallons, so most likely each side is gonna be half of that. so each side is approx ~7.5 gallons.

well I see the logic in that but the right side of the tank is a bit larger then the left side of the tank so I'm pretty sure there's a big difference in capacity per side but I don't know the exact number.

                it's 63 liters, not 15 gallons.

there was one year/model that had a single side tank (might have been an early 318 car..)

My guess, and it is only that, is that the right side of either tank holds about 8 gallons if the tank were to be severed at the top of the saddle over the drive shaft.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Yeah that was close to my guess also.

                          Here's a pic from RealOEM.

It's actually an aux tank that is 10L.. I am not sure the exact models but the Euro M3 has em, as well the Alpina's.

my 318 is a single side tank, on the passenger's side. it's supposed to be ~12gal, and I've never put more than 10 gallons in it.

were you thinking of doing a pre-lift setup on the tank?? to pull more full over to the right tank?? spec e30 really was involved in a thread regarding that subject of the fuel tank.
