    E30 OBP Pedal Box

Hola guys. Curious as to whether anyone on here has used this setup?

Easily find what you are looking for with our main categories in alphabetical order.

Really tempted to pop this in my track car. Do I need it? No. Do I want it? OOOOOHHHH yeah...

    TIA!

I've heard its a huge peice of garbage, we had a discussion about it in the V8 forum. Some guys had to heavily modify their floor pans to get it to fit right. If you want manual brakes the garagistic setup is bolt on with only the brake lines needing any sort of fabrication.

      Good info to have, dirty30!!

I'm not looking for manual brakes, I'm just not a fan of the kind of weedy stock pieces on the E30. Looking for a nicer solution. I think Lee at Massive was working on some stuff...

Jeez- that's more than a proper Tilton setup would cost-
and the Tilton stuff is very well made...

My preference would be to go with a Tilton setup. That said, I can think of lots of different places to spend the money where it would be much more bang (or seconds in this case) for my buck.

I dunno- if you're going from the stock master and booster to a properly-
split front/rear setup, it's night- and- day.
You stop marginally faster, all else being the same,
but the increased feel, control and confidence mean
that you can brake a LOT later, and also can save lockups that would have been
massive with the stock system.... after I converted the 2002,
I never flat- spotted a tire again.

Wish we could do it in Pro3...

I am curious as to what those things would be. I have put a lot into this car already but I'm always a fan of spending the money where it will do the most good!

This is what I'm thinking...it would be nice to play with the brake bias and the stock pedal feels flimsy. Is this the weak spot in the car right now? No, that would be me. But I'm working on that, too!

                Thanks!

I was talking bang for my buck... since my car needs more work. That said, I just went through your thread.

This is probably over kill, but... I'd invest in a better set of dampers before swapping out the pedal box on my car - if the pedals are loose, i'd just refresh the bushings with delrin first.

Damper Type: JRZ Custom RS Series; JRZ Custom RS-Pro Series w/ Ext. Reservoir. Model: Non-M Front Spindle; M3 Front Spindle.

http://www.harrisonmotorsports.com/a...30-and-m3.html - slightly better deal, comes with camber plates, springs, shock mounts.

Your car looks pretty well sorted out though, these are obviously "nice" things to have (but would be my preference before I swapped out my pedal box)...

                    Bullwings,

Thanks for the compliment :) I'd LOVE a set of ASTs...that's probably going to be what I go with next Spring. A friend of mine had the 4100s in his E30 DD/AutoX car, but I never got to ride in it :/ Refreshing the bushings is a great call...hadn't even thought of that. Thanks!!

Oh, sorry, I should have been more specific- you'd gain pretty much the same thing
putting a dual adjuster and dual masters on the stock pedal, as long as the stock
pedal fits you OK. It's not the sexy hardware that helps so much as it's the ability
to ditch the booster and get a nice, firm responsive pedal and the right front-rear split.

That's what helped me the most,

I am considering using this on my e30 when I start rebuilding it. I find the brake booster behind the pedal bring them in to close, this way the pedal sits nice and far back. You would need to make a plate to go over the top of the boosters

does your car have the plastic pedals? I think a simple upgrade would be to switch to the steel ones. I always hated those plastic pedals too.

I don't think there are any bushings on an E30 pedal? I'm pretty sure it's all steel (or cheezy plastic if you're not lucky).

DTM repro for LHD e30. Fits in stock location.
Requires a balance bar wit 1" spherical joint. 2-1/2" MC spacing. Works with most Tilton, AP or Wilwood masters.

                              3 years of development ;-)

For the gaz pedal, a DTM repro unit can also be used
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
