I think that would go back to the whole "if your car is in good shape" thing....Originally posted by ///M Poweredi bounced the revlmiter a few times on the back straights , ripped up my tires , almsot overheated, and blew a motormount, I guess it's how you drive it haha. True. I would hate to track/auto-x a car in great shape though, there'd be less to fix after you're done. :twisted:Originally posted by MichaelHI think that would go back to the whole "if your car is in good shape" thing....Originally posted by ///M Poweredi bounced the revlmiter a few times on the back straights , ripped up my tires , almsot overheated, and blew a motormount, I guess it's how you drive it haha. It's not as easy on the car as highway driving, but as stated... if your car's in good shape... it shouldn't do any significant harm.
It WILL, however, bring out ANY shortcoming possible. Parts usually break because they're old/original/worn out, not because the cars are inherently bad... things like bushings, bearings, ball joints, mounts, etc really show their age once you start tracking.
As for the original question... I've been autocrossing since '91 and tracking since '99. For the last two years I've been an occasional instructor for NASA-VA (as well as other groups.) In the past year I've sold my Miata and started tracking/building this E30. I've done six or seven track days with it so far, and a couple of autocrosses. It's NEVER left me stranded... and I beat the shit out of it every chance I get :D

Hah, 10 months later here I am..... been to 4 track events already. My car is now lowered and drifts great :)Originally posted by rwdriftMy father doesnt want me to track my car as it is supposibly a risk of wearing down parts faster or breaking something down and me being without a car, which would somehow be his problem then :?: ..... I cant get through his mind, so I'm trying to find a cheap 325e or some 240sx to auto-x track it
