why anyone would do anything to a supercar is beyond me, as for wheels and tires, just put the stock ones before you go to the dealership. what about tint? does that void the warranty? radio?

This is like Mitsu transmission fiasco thing all over again. Oh well, gotta pay to play how they say.... it sucks, but what do you expect with new cars that probably record everything and anything. Of course there are going to be buyers who will use the car to it's advertised potential, but I bet just like with most Porsche / Ferrari owners a big majority will probably never red-line or take the car to an HPDE or Autocross event in all of it's life... So, to screw those who do drive the car(s) to their limits with the "sorry, warranty voided" is a big thumbs down.

Appearantly not. You have to have the oil changed at the dealer as well. Which most people do anyway cause it's free. Sometimes. It's got, what, 480hp? Something like that? It isn't exactly crazy. So of course there's room for improvement. As far as radio's and tint go, I have no idea. With the amount of shit they put in this car, they'd be able to know when you scratched your balls while driving it so tires and rims are kind of a no-brainer.

When does the next lighter version come out? Thats the only one I would get if I had the money.

I agree with the owner. You cannot advertise numbers, if achieving those numbers voids warranty.

Also, GTR is pretty much hand built. Quality control of GTR is second to none. We're talking about specs, which put NASA to shame is some ways. GTR is the ultimate nerd-mobile. Teach nerdy kid karate and he'll get killed, unless it's a movie. What's worse, because drivetrain is built in such manner, replacement parts are simply unattainable without paying major dough and waiting for a replacement. You have to remember transmission and engine are mated together by their specs (whatever that means). What I'm trying to say is, when you buy something as unique as a GTR, it's not meant to be used. It's like a piece of expensive jewelery, you'd wear on special occasions.

If GTRs performance would be measured by what is covered under warranty, GTR can't compete with quite a few cars on the market.

Here at Nissan we pride ourselves in building really fast car that no one can drive or else they'll brake. Thats the real reason they moved from California. They knew that if they were located where their biggest market is then they would have people showing up demanding to get their cars fixed. I can see it now. News crews filming a picket line of GTR owners holding up signs with a row of broken GTR in front of the Nissan building. That would be awesome.

i really hate the gtr, i would just feel like a looser driving that, its a computer on wheels not a car. i just couldnt have fun driving it, i really hope cars dont start turning into computerized boring pieces of crap. the only reason i could see buying something like gtr is because of the numbers, yeah it has faster accleration and track times than some super cars, but none of that crap matters for a street car. unless your going to be racing on a track, numbers dont mean crap, its all about how it drives.
ive driven the new m3, rs4, e63, e55, etc... but honestly i have more fun driving my e30. if price was no object, id take something like a miata, e30 m3, older 911, over one. cars are just getting so boring.

I still maintain that for the price (~$90K), I'd spend it on a Porsche GT3. The most focused and 'pure' of the examples discussed here as far as modern sports cars go. The GT3 is a modern 'classic' of sorts with a proven chassis underneath, great engine in the back, 6 speeds you have to shift yourself, no backseat, optional rollcage and carbon-ceramic brakes. Job done.....the end.....STFU :p

a GT3 is alot more exclusive and harder to get then a GTR imo.

The GTR is a fantastic car, i considered getting one but in the end I am a bmw purist at heart and ended up depositig for a E92 M3. Information like this just helps me justify why I chose the M3 over "godzilla"

I guess this means that the GTR in the Ultimate Street Car Challenge is going to die a FAST!!, but painful and flaming death? That should be awesome advertising.
This really sucks. I guess I'll just have to stick to the old school ones when I go back to Japan.

hahahaha. grammar, it's serious business. i'd buy a gt3 over a gtr any day of the week, a green one, or an rsr. if i wanted all wheel drive, it'd be a gallardo. yes, it is more expensive, but when you enter the world of supercars, value & price take on a different meaning.

What happens when your dealer turns off VCD, it get's logged in the OBC, and you lose your warranty?

Someone find that pic of the transmission service page from the GTR owner's manual. It's 2 pages of "New Transmission installed:_________, At:_________"

it's funny because porsche actually has some of the best reliability ratings in the industry. So if you want a car that you can drive hard without breaking - porsche FTW.

Sure I'd take a GT3 over a GTR any day of the week, but I have to lol at the newbs who say something to the extent of "nah, I've never liked the GTR at all, primarily because it is a Nissan, which means it has ties to an Altima 2.5. I'll stick with my E30/God's Chariot."

Bullshit, it isn't my favorite car, but you'd have to mentally retarded to say you'd choose your bag-of-noises E30 over it.

I sure wouldn't. I'd take it over my car any day.

Then sell it, buy an R32 Skyline, an E30 M3, and a couple more cars.
